General SummaryThe Yard Associate will assist in the operations of the lumber yard and maintaining a positive and safe work environment.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesInclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.Customer Service:•Provide a positive representation of Porters.•Proactively assist customers.•Greet customers entering and throughout the yard. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the yard.•Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.•Ensure all radio calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.•Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.•Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of yard layout and location of products.•Be mindful of customer's private property when delivering product. Yard Operations•Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment.•Assist with receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise throughout the yard.•Assist with maintaining back stock levels.•Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the yard.•Communicate any improvement ideas to Store management.•Participate in store meetings.•Be professional in appearance and actions.•Perform all other duties as assigned.Driving Operations•Ensure the security and proper loading of all stock on delivery vehicles. •Extending the professionalism and the appearance of Porters in a positive light throughout the community. •Obeying all traffic laws.•      Treating customer's private property with respect and leaving product only where instructed. ExperienceAny previous experience with using lumber and building materials will aid in learning the position duties. Any previous driving experience is preferred but not mandatory. Physical DemandsStanding, walking, lifting heavy stock, extreme weather conditions, using power tools, utilizing larger than average vehicles with delivery specific features.

Class E or better license. 
Clean driving record and ability to pass DOT physical. 
Ability to operate relevant equipment and vehicles after training.
