Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Material Coordinator at our Springfield, VA location. The Material Coordinator, under limited supervision coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. Confers with department supervisors to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material. May compile report of quantity and type of material on hand, move or transport material from one department to another, using hand or industrial truck and maintain employee records.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the stock levels within a warehouse or other storage area.

  • Process and expedite the flow of material and equipment into and out of storage or dock areas, to include the shipping process, based upon proper authorizing documents, established schedules, or customer priorities.

  • Manage stock using manual or electronic tools and/or records, as provided by the Program.

  • Receives or issues items based upon manual or system generated documents, schedules, reports, or verbal requests from supervision, per established procedure.

  • Make recommendations on stocking levels to support the customer and their mission based upon actual usage, shelf life, attrition rate, spoilage, or other accepted variable(s).

  • Receive; inspect; assign locations; stock; issue; generate re-orders; conduct and report physical inventories; document and perform inventory adjustments; re-locate stock to make room for new items; package items for shipment; process discrepant, surplus, or scrap items per established procedure.

  • Operate a disintegrator for classified waste disposal and deliver to or from storage areas.

  • Perform logistics tasks related to work orders, including furniture rearrangement and moving exercises.

  • Operate all types of material handling equipment, including trucks, vans, and/or tractors, as required or allowed by license.

  • Operate a dock, including scheduling deliveries or pick-ups.

  • Deliver items from a dock to the end user or storage area.

  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workplace and limit access to controlled storage areas to authorized personnel only.

  • Package items for shipment or protection; process discrepant, surplus, or scrap items per established procedure; deliver to or from storage areas; perform logistics tasks related to work orders, including furniture rearrangement and moving exercises.

  • Select appropriate carriers for shipments, both international and domestic and complete appropriate documentation to initiate and/or complete shipments.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversees receiving operations and ensures that all requirements for inspection and accountability are maintained.

  • Manages all storage operations to include warehouse configurations, locator identification systems, and material handling operations.

  • Manages requisitioning of all parts and materials required to support work site maintenance operation.

  • Establishes physical inventory procedures and schedules. Inventories are to be conducted in accordance with requirements of applicable task order regulations.

  • Manages all Government Furnished Equipment/Property issue in support of contract.

  • May supervise supply team consisting of Supply Technicians, Supply Clerks, and Shipping and Receiving Clerks.

  • Maintains statistical database for all supply transactions in order to measure effectiveness of the supply operation.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands and Mental Demands

Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 40 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

  • Five (5) years related experience required.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and conduct business with professional etiquette.

  • Experience in demonstrating flexibility in satisfying customer demands in a high volume, fast paced production environment.

  • Must be able to utilize Microsoft Office products, email, electronic timecard, or other electronic data recording systems, as appropriate.

  • Must have and retain a valid State Drivers License with no recent traffic violations.

  • Must have excellent phone manners and display professionalism at all times.

  • Must be physically able to perform lifting of objects up to 50 pounds per package and maneuver up to 75 pounds.

  • Must be able to withstand rigorous physical demands including, bending, squatting, lifting and standing for long periods of time.

  • Distribute/deliver large amounts mail using a mail cart, including, lift bins and bags throughout each day.

  • Build pallets or boxes for storage or shipping purposes.

  • Must obey all facility safety and traffic regulations.

  • Must be able to operate electric and manual pallet jacks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree.
