As an Early Education Teacher, you will be part of a team dedicated to providing excellent family-centered infant, toddler, preschool and afterschool care. Early Education Teachers should be EEC certified and have a strong desire to make an impact in the lives of our youth.

As an Early Education Teacher, you’ll be expected to:

  • Prioritize the safety of the program participants, emphasizing personal safety and emotional well-being with the children, families, and other staff at all times.
  • Plan and implement age appropriate curriculum that fosters child development.
  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet the individual needs of children in the classroom.
  • Conduct child assessments and provide feedback and recommendation to parents and caregivers.
  • Lead by personal example for children, family and staff, acting as a positive and healthy role model and living by the YMCA character values.
  • Use positive and constructive methods of behavior management.
  • Supervise children to ensure safety, appropriate behavior and smooth transitions.
  • Collaborate with your co-teacher in the design of the classroom, making sure that materials are ready for use and put away at the end of the day.

As an Early Education Teacher, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old and meet the requirements for Department of Early Education and Care, including a certified card from EEC.
  • Complete all required trainings, including CPR and First Aide, as outlined by the YMCA.
  • Be detail oriented. You possess and utilize excellent organizational skills and follow all regulations to make sure that children are happy, safe, and healthy.
  • Be mission driven. You are committed to carry out the mission and goals of the YMCA.
  • Be a people person. You have good human relation skills to facilitate positive relationship with community agencies, staff, families, and program participants.
  • Love working with kids. You enjoy creating amazing educational experiences to help them learn and grow.
