Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Manager will oversee both Nursing and Radiology Technologists for the Intervertional Radiology Department.

Organize the departments and areas of responsibility and establish the responsibility and accountability for patient care and personnel.

1.1 Develop department goals and objectives which tie to the overall ministry strategic plan. 1.2 Assesses compliance to age related patient care standards through observation and communication during daily rounds. 1.3 Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care delivery in meeting patients needs, and takes action to improve care. 1.4 Develops policies and procedures that describe how care needs of patients are assessed, evaluated and met. Reviews annually and modifies when warranted. 1.5 Assists with evaluation of current professional practice and patient care delivery to improve quality, appropriateness, and efficiency of care. 1.6 Provides adequate staffing by effectively utilizing staff resource to achieve maximum productivity and quality patient care. 1.7 Regularly ensures that complete satisfaction is being received by patients, physicians, and all other identified customers

Business development of the Interventional Radiology department. 2.1 Identifies and implements mechanisms to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and integration of care. 2.2 Actively engages the medical staff in the integration of department and organizational goals. 2.3 Routinely rounds with medical staff to query concerns, creating action plans as needed. 2.4 Meets or phones physician office staff regularly to facilitate open communication regarding scheduling issues. 2.5 Pre-plans peak scheduling times with physicians to accommodate needs.

Demonstrates effective unit management. 3.1 Evaluate the assessment, planning, and implementation of all staff members. 3.2 Staff assignments depict patient acuity and appropriate skill level of nurse or technician. 3.3 Proposes solutions to identified problems utilizing appropriate resources. 3.4 Reports appropriate information to oncoming staff or relief personnel. 3.5 Looks ahead at schedules to evaluate future staffing and equipment needs in responsible areas. 3.6 Assures readiness and appropriateness of procedures or care of areas of responsibility by making frequent rounds and/or checking with staff and physicians. 3.7 Evaluates the work performance of staff members involved in provision of care. 3.8 Demonstrates support for administrative decisions in written and verbal communications.

Manages Financial Resources.

4.1 Assists in the preparation of the annual operating budget in conjunction with the other department leaders.

4.2 Demonstrates knowledge of unit specific history and developing trends in budget preparation.

4.3 Monitors compliance to budget and responds to defined variances monthly.

4.4 Coordinates the utilization of man-hours, capital expenditures and supplies within budget restrictions annually

Demonstrate effective and accurate verbal and written communication. 5.1 Significant information is reported verbally to appropriate persons. 5.2 Pertinent information is concisely an legibly written 5.3 Listens in a participatory manner by looking directly at the person speaking, observing body language, facial expression and indicating by words and understanding of the senders message. 5.4 Sends effective message by speaking for self, not others. 5.5 Directs message to appropriate person using a well modulated voice and acceptable language.

Education: Bachelors Degree required

Experience: 2 years hospital leadership experience required

Licensure: Current RN License or Certified Radiology Technician
