The ideal candidate for the Airframe Stress Analyst I will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Requires a basic understanding of metallic and composite materials (e.g., lamination theory, fabrication and assembly processes, etc.) and able to apply the principles of Structural Mechanic and Statics.
  • Able to generate free body diagrams for both determinate and indeterminate structures, determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams.
  • Able to apply basic aerospace industry standard classical analysis techniques for both metallic and composite structures and identify typical failure modes associated airframe primary and secondary structures.
  • Demonstrate a fundamental knowledge and understanding of finite element modeling idealization and good modeling practices using NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABACUS, Hypersizer or other FEA packages.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 or Unigraphics and good computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office is desired

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Work under close supervision of the senior analysts, provide day-to-day stress support to the airframe designer as their design progresses.
  • Prepare stress analysis as the design matures and organize all analyses into formal stress analysis reports.
  • Participate in design review meetings and mark up models/drawing ready for release.
  • Sign-off models/drawings for "Stress" to demonstrate their compliance with program requirements for structural integrity.
  • Assist the senior analysts in preparing for technical interchange meetings and technical program reviews.
  • May participate in material review board (MRB) and provide stress support for design changes, repairs and rework involving structure.
