Position Title Electronics Technician 1

Job Summary

Work can be performed in any of the following locations: Norfolk, VA; Groton, CT or Honolulu, HI

Under supervision, performs simple and routine tasks or tests within, but not necessarily limited to a prescribed area of expertise. Duties will be varied but the majority of the work will be assembly/disassembly of electronic equipment.

Essential Responsibilities:

1) Assist with the installation, fabrication, modification and operation of test equipment used on special projects.

2) Operate a variety of computer systems to assist in the collection and compilation of data.

3) Perform a wide variety of duties in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic systems.

4) Test electronic circuits and components to locate and replace defective components using appropriate electronic test equipment and hand tools.

5) Maintain parts inventory, technical documentation and record of repairs.

6) Assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul of repair of equipment.

7) Provide miscellaneous technical and non-technical support as required or directed.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical warehouse and or shipboard environment that will involve the movement of large electronic equipment, occasional lifting to 50 pounds. Once a security clearance is obtained the employee will be working onboard submarines in a shipyard environment. Potential employees must possess planning/organizing skills and be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

Vocational/technical training beyond high school and 0 to 2 (zero to two) years of job-related experience or equivalent. Excellent written communication skills; working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work as required. Position will require the employee to obtain and maintain a trusted agent status and have the ability to obtain a secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior US Navy experience.
