About this job

DISH is a Fortune 200 company with more than $15 billion in annual revenue that continues to redefine the communications industry. Our legacy is innovation and a willingness to challenge the status quo, including reinventing ourselves. We disrupted the pay-TV industry in the mid-90s with the launch of the DISH satellite TV service, taking on some of the largest U.S. corporations in the process, and grew to be the fourth-largest pay-TV provider. We are doing it again with the first live, internet-delivered TV service – Sling TV – that bucks traditional pay-TV norms and gives consumers a truly new way to access and watch television.

Now we have our sights set on upending the wireless industry and unseating the entrenched incumbent carriers.

We are driven by curiosity, pride, adventure, and a desire to win – it’s in our DNA. We’re looking for people with boundless energy, intelligence, and an overwhelming need to achieve to join our team as we embark on the next chapter of our story.

Opportunity is here. We are DISH.

A successful User Experience Researcher and Designer will have the following:

  • Rapidly producing user-interface designs in the form of wireframes, mid-to-high-fidelity screen designs, or prototypes using Sketch, InVision, proto.io, and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Passion for creating usable, useful, and desirable products; relentless user advocacy
  • Communication and presentation of design strategies to key stakeholders
  • Organized, process-oriented, and thorough from inception to hand-off
  • Knowledge of the 10-foot TV-watching experience and interactive TV-industry trends
  • Bachelor’s degree in User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Service Design, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field with 5 years of experience in user-centric design

Nice to Haves

  • 7+ years of experience as a graphic designer, web designer, or similar
  • Experience working in an agile development cycle
  • Knowledge of the Lean process, and Lean UX
  • Experience with smart solutions or IoT

Are you passionate about understanding and delighting your users?  Love movies and TV?  Want to join a team that is looking toward the future as DISH explores the world of IoT?  The User Experience Designer will report to Product Management’s General Manager of User Experience and be responsible for designing and prototyping DISH’s growing line of television and video products, including the Hopper, our flagship product.  The successful candidate will be well-acquainted with applying ingenuity, creativity, and design thinking to craft elegant customer-facing user-experiences.

  • Able to articulate arguments for or against user-specific issues, and support these arguments informed by user research
