Herdsman - Full-time

Employee will need to be able to mix a ration and feed cattle in a feedlot setting.  Deliver hay and mineral to pastures where cows are being kept.  Duties may include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, castrating, branding, weighing, catching, and loading animals. May maintain records on animals; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; assist in birth deliveries; and administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate. May clean and maintain animal housing areas. Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals.  Follow instructions on processing cattle and doctoring ones that have been pulled from pens once they’ve been deemed sick.  Will need to sort and load cattle.  Complete routine maintenance on equipment and can do general duties like welding, dirt-work and routine plumbing.  Operate farm equipment to spray crop, swathing/bailing hay and drilling.  Good with following direction from manager.  Complete maintenance on equipment including servicing, rebuilding equipment, and fabing new equipment.  Must be respectful and work well with others.  Require 5 years’ experience working with cattle and operating farm equipment.  Require a bachelor degree in Agriculture or related field.  Require skills in problem solving, time management, machine maintenance, plant health and soil conditions.
