Senior Engineering Technician - Full-time

DISH’s Manufacturing team ensures the high quality condition of millions of satellite receivers and remote controls.  State-of-the-art facilities in El Paso, TX, Spartanburg, SC, and Englewood, CO, use advanced diagnostic tools and automated equipment to test, refurbish and redistribute hardware to customers.

The Senior Engineering Technician will be on DISH’s Equipment Remanufacturing team, which ensures the high-quality condition of millions of satellite receivers and remote controls.  State-of-the-art facilities in El Paso, TX, Spartanburg, SC, and Englewood, CO, use advanced diagnostic tools and automated equipment to test, refurbish and redistribute hardware to customers.

• A.S. degree in related field from accredited college or technical school, or equivalent schooling in electronics
• 1+ year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to provide solutions from rough concepts
• Physical ability to lift and move test equipment such as test boxes, racks, carts, cabling and computers (20-30 pounds at a time daily, 50-70 pounds occasionally)
• Ability to be self-directed and motivated
• Proficient in organizational and time management skills to complete multiple projects, tasks, deadlines
• Good communication skills
• Team player!
• Maintain tools and test equipment in good working order
• Ability to work overtime and have a flexible schedule as needed

This position is for an engineering-minded technician that will test complex test system hardware and software used for testing Satellite Television Set-Top-Box hardware in the remanufacture process.  This includes periodically testing new Set-Top-Box software releases to ensure test system compatibility and writing technical documents defining troubleshooting and operational aspects of the test system.The Senior-Level role starts at about $22/hr, but if brought on as a Level II would be a slightly lower rate.

Job duties and responsibilities may include:

• Assemble and test electronic test equipment and components according to engineering specifications
• Utilize computer programs to test, troubleshoot and repair electronic test equipment
• Troubleshoot, evaluate and repair equipment test failures at component level
• Record failures and repairs in shared database while monitoring possible trends
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance
• Construct and modify electronic circuit board prototypes and equipment under direction of engineers
• Install through hole and surface mount components in proper orientation and inspects completed boards for loading faults
