Position Summary:

Provide assistance and transfer knowledge to businesses, markets, factories, and project teams for Liquid Filling Equipment for Cans, Aluminum and Steel Bottles, Glass Bottles and Plastic Bottles including development of packaging innovations by through standardized equipment solutions. Support procurement initiatives. As a core member / Beverage representative of the Liquid can platform, support development of equipment and operational standards, promote sharing across factories, manage our key strategic suppliers and play an active role supporting the business and markets in their journey towards operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to development of standards for filling & packing machines and units according to LEAN and TPM principles for Liquid Glass Filling Equipment, and Liquid Hot Fill Filling Equipment for can and glass, and Retorted Can Filling Equipment.

  • Coordinate and interact with key suppliers and internal customers on identifying the right machines for the right applications: from User Requirement Specification to machine fabrication, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), commissioning, installation and start-up qualification, CAPEX evaluation

  • Establish packaging machine specifications and evaluate supplier technical data and capability. Deliver Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) evaluation and machine design engineering to optimize performance KPI's such as OEE, MTBF, MTTR, vertical start up, "one digit" change over (SMED), …

  • Lead R&D Exploration projects related to Liquid Rigid Filling technologies, in the areas of packaging material and equipment; also contribute to equipment specifications specific to the product where applicable.

  • Support Packaging Optimization projects (ex: harmonization, industrial set up optimization, supplier qualification, co-man audits, AG and CTAG led industrial trials...etc.)

  • Nestle Continuous Excellence: Conduct value analysis; identify and recommend cost improvements and source reduction opportunities. Lead or participate in DMAIC exercises related to packaging lines. Build up MP Database (Maintenance Prevention) based on operation feedback (MP Datasheets)

  • Support start up for new and existing packaging lines with regards the 4 M's: machine performance, efficiency, material losses, operators and maintenance capability, autonomous maintenance, compliance to specs.

  • Deliver technical assistance to the markets on installation of new lines as well as on reliability issues of current lines.

  • People & Know How: Ensure development of competencies in the defined area of packaging engineering, disseminate packaging best practices and knowledge at the shop floor (e.g. "One Point Lessons"), develop the necessary training materials.

Qualifications

Requirements and Minimum Education Level:

  • BSc in Engineering discipline (preferable in Packaging, Mechanics, Mechatronics, Industrial, Electronic or Automation) or 10 years relevant experience.

  • Operational experience in Filling & Packing or machine manufacturing with:
  • Problem solving approach

  • Project management involving cross-functional teams

  • Supplier management

  • TPM and LEAN principles

  • Lead project from ideation to industrialization

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a team atmosphere
