As a Pouch Plant Supervisor, you will join our factory in northeastern Pennsylvania, which manufactures ALPO, and Friskies brand canned cat and dog food along with Friskies pouch products. The Production Worker Level 3 positions are a vital piece of the Wet and Pouch Plants, as well as the Mixing Center of the Nestle Purina Allentown Factory. Production Worker Level 3 will meet all Safety, Health, Quality and Environmental requirements when performing job duties. The primary responsibilities in these roles are handling and/or using a fork lift truck to deliver raw ingredients and packaging materials to various production lines. In addition, Level 3 Production Worker will be primary or relief operators on production equipment in Meat Prep, Production/Processing, Packaging & Labeling, Meat Receiving, Waste Treatment, and Can production. These roles exist on all three shifts in our Production Departments. There is potential for overtime on all three shifts and weekends as required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely and efficiently operate batch processing and ECF Systems, labeling, and tray/packer equipment or manual operated systems per established job procedures.
  • Measure, weigh, blend and add materials to manual or automated systems, adjust speeds, temperatures, as needed.
  • Supply production lines and meat prep stations with adequate supplies to ensure continuous operations.
  • Accurately control inventory through proper operations of the control terminals (DIS terminals), and record information regarding ingredients received and stored.
  • Safely and properly store materials using a forklift, utilizing efficient storage space, and Inspect and remove any substandard pallets, cans, and/or separators.
  • Perform routine maintenance (greasing, timing adjustments, and parts replacements, for example) on production equipment on a daily basis to keep production running.
  • Monitor equipment for jams, diagnose and make minor repairs, and corrections based on safe operating procedures (SOPs). Elevate concerns to Supervision as needed.
  • Manually operate the controls of the Batching equipment if needed.
  • Maintain detailed record log of operational data for quality and downtime reporting purposes.
  • Provide Relief Operations for various production operators and record pertinent job related activities on all relief jobs assigned.
  • Communicate information to other shifts and relief operators for continuous production.
  • Perform proper start up and shut down of operating equipment, reporting any malfunctions to supervision.
  • Visually inspect ingredients and remove and foreign materials from products, document, and initiate investigations for corrective action.
  • Select preprogrammed recipes from process controllers to deliver the proper formulation of raw ingredients as called for by the production schedule.
  • Perform routine inspections to determine inadequacies within the operation equipment and make adjustments if necessary (including fork lift trucks).
  • Receive, inspect, and store incoming raw materials to be used by the Meat Prep Department.
  • Inspect and remove any substandard packaging materials, and prevent them from re-entering the manufacturing process by communicating to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all work areas, perform daily cleaning tasks for proper sanitation.
  • Purge and flush out production lines for product changeovers.
  • Use Proper Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times including the cleaning and sanitizing various areas and equipment, mixing cleaning chemicals used in the sanitation process, removal of red dye in totes, and use lock out procedures as prescribed.
  • Transport materials using a pallet jack or forklift.

Perform other duties as directed by supervision.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience (Years/Type):

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing, production, agriculture, military or related environment
  • 1+ years of experience operating a forklift (Preferred but not required)
