As a Pouch Plant Supervisor, you will join our factory in northeastern Pennsylvania, which manufactures ALPO, and Friskies brand canned cat and dog food along with Friskies pouch products. The Production Worker Level 2 positions are a vital piece of the Wet and Pouch Plants of the Nestle Purina Allentown Factory. Production Worker Level 2 will meet all Safety, Health, Quality and Environmental requirements when performing job duties. The primary responsibilities in these roles are handling raw ingredients and packaging materials to various production lines ranging from the Palletizer/Depalletizer to operation of the Grinder and Unscrambler Equipment. These roles exist on all three shifts in our Production Departments and there is potential for overtime on all three shifts and weekends as required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely and efficiently operate all Grinder systems, TPV Handling Systems, Palletizers, Depalletizers, and Unscrambler equipment per established job procedures.
  • Supply production lines and meat prep stations with adequate supplies to ensure continuous operations.
  • Assist in removing or changing bulk head bags of dry ingredients.
  • Accurately operate the inventory control terminals (DIS terminals).
  • Monitor equipment for jams, diagnose and make minor repairs, and corrections based on safe operating procedures (SOPs). Elevate concerns to Supervision as needed.
  • Assist with Tray/Pack Operations as needed.
  • Pull Samples and perform quality test, assist on quality trials or deliver test samples to Quality Assessment Team.
  • Records pertinent statistics onto required forms and/or into applicable computer software.
  • Perform proper start up and shut down of operating equipment, reporting any malfunctions to supervision.
  • Visually inspect ingredients and remove and foreign materials from products.
  • Inspect and remove any substandard pallets, cans, and/or separators.
  • Strip boxes, plastics, cardboard and other packaging materials and ensure proper disposal (recycling, etc.)
  • Perform chlorine residual checks and regulate chlorine flow into Malo Canals.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in work areas, perform daily cleaning tasks in Meat Prep Department, including the emptying of trash.
  • Use Proper Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times including the cleaning and sanitizing various areas and equipment, mixing cleaning chemicals used in the sanitation process, removal of red dye in totes, and use lock out procedures as prescribed.
  • Provide relief to other minor System Operators when needed, or assigned by supervisor.
  • Transport materials using a pallet jack or forklift.

Perform other duties as directed by supervision.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience (Years/Type):

  • 6+ months of experience in a manufacturing, production, agriculture, military or related environment
  • 6+ months of experience operating a forklift (Preferred but not required)
