As a Senior Manufacturing (Mfg) Reliability Engineering Leader, you'll focus on reducing system downtime and slow running, increasing system utilization, and reducing loss by supporting, teaching, and developing standards to optimize equipment design, fabrication, installation, operation, and maintenance practices. You'll also provide key support and education regarding Continuous Improvement (CI), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and root cause analysis (RCA).

What is the work?

Leadership / Engineering / Continuous Improvement:

  • Serves as key subject matter expert (SME) in ongoing development of the Reliability Engineering (RE) program, including RE program direction and goal setting, RE recruiting, skill assessment, training, facilitation, and coaching
  • Develops, implements, leads Reliability standards / processes across entire technical community
  • Demonstrates a root cause elimination / zero loss mindset; leads others in the journey to zero accidents, zero food safety incidents, and zero manufacturing loss; provides leadership / mentors others in deploying and maintaining systems and methods to create and sustain equipment reliability
  • Supports the creation of technical skill development plans and programs to build reliability capabilities and culture of operators, mechanics, engineers, and leaders
  • Owns the PM pillar, divisional reliability improvement master plan, and glidepath across all sites; owns the AM pillar master plan and glidepath across all sites
  • Evaluates capital expenditures to optimize maintainability / reliability to achieve lowest life cycle cost (LCC) while ensuring equipment availability and that performance meets business needs
  • Serves as CI Champion and steering team member; collaborates with Mfg leaders to develop / execute a coordinated, organization-wide master plan to transform the daily work and culture into a continuously improving, high-performance work system
  • Leads improvements driven by maintenance; supports improvements driven by engineering, operations, and other functions
  • Partners with Mfg leaders to identify / prioritize system performance improvement opportunities based on short- / long-term business needs
  • Supports / develops CI leaders to improve existing processes and develop new ones to close performance gaps and to meet emerging business needs
  • Leads / teaches CI processes across Mfg division; supports standards / proper process usage; personally models "Leader = Teacher" by learning, then doing, and eventually teaching improvement activities across Mfg platforms / divisions
  • Benchmarks internally / externally with a focus on external best practices to continually learn and introduce / update existing and new processes, methods
  • Leads maintenance process and culture evolution from reactive repair to preventative to predictive; supports operations role transformation from machine tenders to equipment owners
  • Serves as key stakeholder in plant operations and engineering design development / implementation
  • Leads equipment performance review meetings; ensures actions are identified / executed to address equipment performance gaps
  • Encourages / facilitates sharing of lessons learned and current best approaches across all sites in the division

Coaching / Training:

  • Serves as technical expert in multiple areas, including materials, tolerances and equipment specification, fabrication, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance
  • Facilitates / teaches others to facilitate complex component failure analysis / problem solving
  • Develops / optimizes technically-based maintenance strategies and procedures; supports maintenance process and culture evolution from reactive to proactive
  • Leads ongoing development / deployment of reliability standards / processes across Mfg; serves as internal phase methodology expert, partnering with technical community to integrate these techniques across Mfg
  • Develops mechanics' abilities to become technical coaches for operators to support their Autonomous Maintenance (AM) journey
  • Teaches people how to find / eliminate defects using the 5 Ms: man, machine, materials, methods, and environment
  • Models / fosters company values; helps Partners reach their full potential and improve their daily work life

What is your background?

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred)
  • 10 – 20 years of leadership experience (preferred) in a manufacturing environment, or other applicable experience
  • Core experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and operations performance tracking systems
  • Experience with CMMS systems and effective asset care procedures

  • Strong knowledge of reliability engineering (RE) with significant previous hands-on time in role; deep understanding of / belief in CI methods
