Description: Responsible for physical therapy management of patients under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapy Supervisor.

Essential Functions:

Assumes all responsibilities as outlined in Physical Therapist II job description.

Provides consultation and mentoring to the physical therapy staff in their specific area of specialization.

Provides education to physical therapists through formal and informal education in their specific specialty both locally and regionally.

Assists in the development and implementation of new clinical practice models for the delivery of care to members who require their expertise.

For their area of specialty, acts as a consultant to staff members for the management of patients and is a resource for on-going, professional development of the staff in their specialty. Assesses staff competencies, clinical judgment, education, and training needs in their specialty. Provides direct patient care, especially for patients with complex problems related to their specialty.

Provides competent patient care at a senior level as defined below. Senior therapists provide leadership to the department, supervise PTA's students and support staff. Provides a leadership role to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of physical therapy services.

Provides clinical direction to staff in our role as senior staff.

Assumes responsibility for the management of high volume of patients, including those with complex problems or special needs in their area of specialty.

Provides assistance to Supervisor as needed and covers for Supervisor when out of the office.

Provides coverage as needed in other facilities within the service area if appropriate.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

Minimum five (5) years of full-time practice experience in the area of specialty practice required.

Education

Graduate of an accredited physical therapy curriculum with a bachelor's or master's or doctoral degree with certification in physical therapy or foreign-trained equivalent required.

License, Certification, Registration

Licensure to practice physical therapy by the State of Virginia, Maryland, and/or the District of Columbia required.

BLS certification required.

National Provider Identification (NPI) required.

Enrollment in PECOS within thirty (30) days of assignment to position required.

Additional Requirements:

Expertise or specialization required in any of the following: Completion of a post graduate degree from an accredited university with a specialty focus, or completion of a fellowship or has obtained a certificate from an accredited body or organization in a subject matter that is pertinent to our patient population and is clinic based, or can demonstrate expertise 100% competency in a particular subject matter in a clinical subject matter in high demand or in a clinical subject matter that we have limited resources or specialists on staff, or can demonstrate 100% competency that has been gained from years of clinical experience from treating a pertinent diagnosis or patient population.

Demonstrate leadership skills and problem-solving abilities in the clinic and to our members.

Demonstrates behavior consistent with the criteria for professional practice.

Successfully be able to perform all core competencies completely.

Demonstrate leadership in project management, teaching, clinical instructor for students, committee membership.

Be involved in staff development and mentoring.
