About this job

Atlanta, GA -- Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (Children's) is seeking an accomplished and collaborative pediatric epileptologist to serve as the system-wide Medical Director, Epilepsy.

Treating more than one million patients annually, Children's is a leading pediatric health system and one of the largest in the country. To better serve the community and provide cutting-edge healthcare, Children's formed an integral partnership with Emory University, a leading private institution committed to academic excellence and fostering scholars. Children's Strategic Plan, Every Child Deserves Children's, calls for Children's to provide access to all of the children in Georgia. Over the next 10 years, Children's will execute a service expansion plan both within its current facilities and building new facilities throughout the Atlanta metro area to provide greater access to patient care.

The Medical Director, Epilepsy will provide medical direction to the Epilepsy program, as a whole, and the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), specifically, to promote quality and appropriateness of care at Children's main campus and satellite facilities.

Our Epilepsy program has experienced significant growth over the past few years. The patient needs for clinical care has never been higher. We're seeking a leader who can evaluate our current processes and improve patient throughput and epilepsy surgery efficiency.

This position comes with an appointment at Emory School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. All clinical work will be conducted in and through Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Currently, our epilepsy team consists of four (4) epileptologists, and growing. The team would report to this leader. We anticipate that number to grow as we continue to expand our Epilepsy program. This leader will report to the Chief of Neurosciences, with regular interaction with Children's service line leadership.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding clinical and academic leader with demonstrated ability to set a vision, effectively inspire, manage and mentor. He/she will be a physician with a medical degree from an accredited school, board certification in child neurology, and eligibility for licensure in Georgia. We are seeking a leader with 5+ years of experience in the epilepsy surgery in a high volume pediatric hospital setting, and 2+ years of experience leading a team of physicians in a direct reporting or heavy influence role, with a track record of success.
