Manager, Ops Architecture

Job Overview:

The Manager, Ops Architecture will help the Macys.com Service Delivery team conceptualize, design and manage system delivery, service delivery and overall strategy using industry best practices for IT service management. This position will work closely with business and technical staff to support the design of critical architectural environments and drive process improvement. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Drive technical innovation of Infrastructure and Operations capabilities to increase value to internal customer and the business.
• Design, build and automate Enterprise Cloud and on premises solutions that are both highly available and highly performing.
• Help to define best practices around migrating applications to public cloud providers.
• Documentation and planning of user requirements, offered services, designed systems and training.
• Lead process improvement and maturity for the Operations Architecture team.
• Act as liaison between our internal customer base and the Operations team.
• Develop and implement best in class solutions that are fully integrated with Macy's Information Technology standards.
• Develop critical system components as well as review team deliverables for accuracy, quality, and completeness.
• Mentor and develop skills of junior engineers and architects in the team.
• Work under aggressive schedules and with cross functional teams to achieve Macys.Com goals.
• Influence work of cross functional teams to ensure best in class solutions.
• Work with vendors, cross functional teams and internal partners.
• Work with other leaders to create, measure, and report progress towards established key performance metrics.
• Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.

• Achieve planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
• Garner trust among stakeholders.
• Support budgetary direction provided by Director.
• Responsible for managing a budget, overseeing risk and status assessments, team creation, communication strategy, and influencing the scope of projects.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• B.S in Computer Science or equivalent degree and 8-10 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 10 years designing Infrastructure and Operations Systems.
• Experience with organization that has successfully sustained exponential growth.
• Experience building internal and external IaaS cloud based systems.
• Experience and familiarity with the following technologies: VMware, Linux/Unix, Storage subsystems, Windows, Data Center planning, BI delivery solutions, Java application servers, RDBMS (Oracle, DB2), LAN and WAN technologies, batch processing automation, BCP solutions.

Communication Skills:

• Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and have excellent presentation skills to wide spectrum of audience types (from sr. executives to technical architects and developers).
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and business users.

Reasoning Ability:

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands:

• This position involves regular ambulating, sitting, hearing, and talking.
• May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Other Skills:

• Excellent documentation and presentation skills.
• Strong team player with solid interpersonal skills.
• Strong domain knowledge in enterprise heterogeneous infrastructure and operations system and ITSM service design, familiarity with ITIL.

Work Hours:

• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
