It is the primary responsibility of the Gardener - Exterior to care for and maintain all exterior grounds including but not limited to flower beds, plant material, trees, and landscape. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices and procedures.

• Plants, transplants, fertilizes, waters, prunes, weeds, and applies chemicals to flower beds and plant areas.
• Maintains annuals, turf, trees, and shrubs by exercising proper horticultural practices.
• Maintains, mows, and trims turf areas.
• Picks up and disposes of litter.
• Inspects work area to identify any potential safety hazards and ensures the landscape meets appearance standards.
• Properly uses a variety of manual hand tools and equipment such as rakes, loppers, hand saws, pruning shears, shovels, hoes, fertilizer spreaders, pesticide sprayers, sod knifes, and hedge shears to complete assigned tasks.
• Drives/Operates company vehicles or specialized carts to travel between properties and transport materials and equipment.
• Operates specialized power and motorized equipment such as blowers, hedge trimmers, light tractors, lawn mowers, lawn edgers, chainsaws, various lifts, sod cutters, shedders, tugs, turf aerators, and roto-tillers to complete assigned tasks.
• Ensures proper care and safe use of equipment and supplies.
• Communicates with management and other Horticulture staff via two-way radio while out in the field.
• Maintains cleanliness and order in all public and common work areas.
• Ensures appropriate pest management and irrigation management practices.
• Performs all other job related duties as requested.

Required:

• At least 5 years of experience in exterior landscape maintenance.
• At least 2 years of experience in turf maintenance.
• At least 1 year of experience maintaining and installing irrigation systems.
• At least 1 year of experience in integrated pest management.
• At least 1 year of experience in tree maintenance.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

• Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
