The Hyatt Place Austin Downtown is currently seeking dedicated, flexible and service orientated individuals to fill the following position:

The Job

The Housekeeping Attendant ensures that Guest Room Attendant's trash and soiled linen are emptied at all times and hallways are maintained in good condition.

Essential Functions

  • Provide the highest quality of service to the guest at all times and anticipate and exceed guest expectations. Know and live the mission and the White Lodging/brand basics. Understand the Hotel Improvement Plan.
  • Sign in and out for key each day following proper key procedures. Sign out radio.
  • Respond to all pages and radio calls immediately.
  • Collect, receive, count, segregate and record items of soiled linen and laundry and place items in appropriate containers.
  • Store, issue, and distribute clean linen after examining laundered items to ensure cleanliness and serviceability.
  • Count and assemble laundered requisitions and transport carts to appropriate floor.
  • Keep the line room in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Check for special tasks and projects and ensure that they are completed.
  • Practice safety standards at all times and keep the property safe for guests and fellow associates. Use wet floor signs as required.
  • Follow proper use of approved chemicals and accurately label chemical containers. Always use gloves and goggles when handling chemicals. Complete Chemical Training and Blood borne Pathogen Training.
  • Stock linen rooms to par levels. Restock guestroom supplies including water glasses, coffee mugs.
  • Inventory all guestroom supplies weekly.
  • Keep Housekeepers' trash and linen emptied at all times. Always use gloves when handling
  • soiled linen.
  • Complete all special assignments.
  • Maintain hallways free of linen, trash, room service trays.
  • Maintain elevator landings including guest and service elevators. Clean elevator tracks on outside of elevators. Polish brash plates.
  • Pick up clean glasses; deliver to floors.
  • Remove dirty glasses from each cart, linen room, hallways, and vending areas. Essential Functions, Cont.
  • Remove cots and make ready for next day's use.
  • Empty vacuum cleaners as needed.
  • Keep all housekeeping equipment secure and in good repair.
  • Clean landing and vending areas daily; mop all floors.
  • Vacuum hallways and corridors.
  • Handle deliveries and pick up supplies as needed.
  • Spot clean windows.
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of all guest and hotel information and material.
  • Practice energy conservation at all times.
  • Notify manager of maintenance issues and complete work orders as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area in accordance with hotel standards. Complete daily/weekly cleaning schedule.
  • Attend work on time as scheduled and adhere to attendance policy.
  • Participate in daily preshift.
  • Utilize property Service Recovery/Defect Tracking processes.
  • Transport guests in hotel van as needed.
  • Report unsafe conditions and suspicious activity to Loss Prevention/Management.
  • Lift, carry or otherwise move up to 25 lbs. regularly. Lift, carry or otherwise move up to 50 lbs occasionally with assistance. Follow proper moving and lifting procedures identified in Departmental Orientation Handbook. Regularly required to stand; walk; reach; use hands to finger, handle or feel; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Must pass certification quiz/test for position. Must possess a valid/current driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record. Must possess additional drivers' endorsements if required by state in order to operate the hotel van.
  • Know how to clean guestrooms to standard and assist the Housekeeping Department if needed.
  • Know how to operate laundry equipment properly and assist if needed.
  • Wear uniform, including nametag at all times in accordance with the Standards of Appearance.
  • Communicate properly and effectively with the guest, associates and managers. Effectively respond to guest complaints.
  • Promote teamwork and associate morale.
  • Maintain knowledge of hotel property, hotel staff, hotel services, hotel service hours ofoperation and hotel surroundings (i.e. mall, restaurants).
  • Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company. This includes, but is not limited to those contained in the Associate Orientation Handbook and the red Emergency Response Procedures Manual. Have a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
