It is the primary responsibility of the Logistics Specialist to provide specialized oversight to ensure the timely and successful installation and tear down of events. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts International policies, practices and procedures.

  • Lead crews, maximizing employee talents and available resources.
  • Oversee employees and outside labor and enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that decor is delivered, installed, struck and returned to meet corporate and client expectations, is within budget and meet deadlines.
  • Monitor on-site labor hours to minimize overtime and enforce time clocked procedures.
  • Conduct Pre-shift meetings outlining the daily tasks and assigning vehicles.
  • Interface with internal departments, clients and vendors to anticipate and resolve issues.
  • Communicate project status, timelines and/or delivery information to internal teams.
  • Send detailed Install/Strike notes for appropriate Event Sales, Logistics and Floral personnel.
  • Ensure that department databases are updated with status and follow-up is timely.
  • Develop clear knowledge of hotels/venues, dock/security procedures and ballroom specs.
  • Ensure that event facilities/venues are left in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Monitor condition of tools/props/furniture/décor/vehicles; document and report loss and damages.

  • Assign pulling, cleaning and restocking warehouse tasks to crews during events downtime.
  • Become well versed on the Event Image site and fluent in MGM Resorts Events inventory.
  • Stay current in event trends, technology, props/design elements, vendor products.
  • Participate in event production, installation/tear down and loading/unloading or driving of vehicles as needed.
  • Cultivate a creative and collaborative environment to inspire design and build cohesive teams.
  • Train and educate employees on design, prop assembly and installation/strike techniques.
  • Be active as an MRE ambassador for the company and within our industry.
  • Read and complete all required paperwork, monitor for accuracy and consistency.
  • Perform other job related duties as requested.

Required:

  • At least 4 years of experience in event industry installation, logistics or visual display, or theatrical background.
  • At least 2 years of experience as lead, project point person or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to lead and mentor a team.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • Able to drive 24' box trucks, stake bed truck, passenger and cargo vans, and operate scissors lift, fork lift and cherry pickers.
  • Scissor lift and fork lift certification.
  • Previous experience working in a similar setting.
