POSITION SUMMARY:

It is the primary responsibility of the Baker to prepare, bake and decorate various types of pastries, breads and cakes. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures under the direction of the Executive Pastry Chef , Assistant Executive Pastry Chef, Assistant Pastry Chef and Head Bakers

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS:

  • Follow recipes precisely and understand mis en place
  • Ensure all requisitions are processed properly and placed in designated area
  • Maintain solid knowledge of all food products
  • Identify and safely use all kitchen equipment
  • Regularly runs for food and restocks all kitchen supplies and food items required for service
  • Properly labels and dates all products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation
  • Apply basic knife skills required for preparation
  • Read, measure, and execute recipes to include conversion capabilities
  • Assist in decorating of cakes and pastries
  • Maintain a solid menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation
  • Versatile in preparing all mis en place required for production
  • Other job related duties as requested
  • Maintain and strictly abide by Mississippi State Sanitation / Health regulations and hotel requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of Baking experience in professional setting
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting
  • Bilingual, English as the primary or secondary language

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, procedures, and standards
  • Effectively communicate with management, chefs and staff in both written and oral forms in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by the guest or other employees
  • Working knowledge of basic kitchen equipment
  • A highly motivated and energetic personality
  • Has ability to take initiative and exhibit flexibility
