It is the primary responsibility of the Bar Porter to ensure the bar is stocked with all items and kept clean. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Ensure maximum usage of all supplies to attain budgeted beverage cost and to prevent waste.
  • Deliver orders from the warehouse to the bar outlets and restaurants in a timely manner - warehouse porters only.
  • Anticipate the guest's needs and responding appropriately with a sense of urgency.
  • Assist Bartenders on the execution of service and following the bartender's direction.
  • Empty trash on a regular basis.
  • Wash glasses to ensure bar is fully stocked.
  • Mop floors as necessary to ensure a clean, safe work area.
  • Respond to Bartender needs by running for liquor, glassware, stock, etc. Perform all opening and closing duties, based upon shift assignment.
  • Bid farewell to guests, using guest's name when known, and encourage them to return.
  • Work as a team, assisting all guest's and employee's needs and inquiries.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Performs all other job related duties as requested.

Required:

  • Ability to take initiative and exhibit flexibility.
  • A highly motivated and energetic personality.
  • Working knowledge of and comply with all departmental and property policies, procedures and standards.
  • Working knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, wines and non-alcoholic selections available.
  • Working knowledge of two-way radio, knives and pallet jacks.
  • Effectively communicate with management, bartenders and service staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a bar porter.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
