As an Engineering leader you will own the next generation of the Nordstrom Data platform and deliver on the strategic vision of Customer focused features and services to enhance “The Nordstrom Customer Service Excellence”. The Nordstrom data team designs, develops and maintains software applications and services that support all of Data Engineering and Analytics business needs to drive the Nordstrom Omni channel experiences. This opportunity also provides various avenues to collaborate and influence several other platforms within Nordstrom Technology and have a company-wide impact – both business and engineering. Data Analytics is a strategic focus area for the company.In this role you will lead the DW/BI engineering team for Nordstrom Data organization. As a manager, you will drive engineering teams to implement integrated modern data warehouse and solve for BI needs across different business functions. The right person for this role has a strong focus on understanding business expectations and requirements, sets a high bar for themselves, likes to solve problems, and is tenacious when developing and instituting new processes and influencing adoption across technology and business. This person should be intellectually curious and an innovator. In addition, the ideal candidate must possess a high degree of collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate effectively on many levels.A day in the life...Lead the engineering team responsible for the implementation and support of integrated data warehouse environment. Support the long term organizational goal to become a data driven organization.Build and manage a high performing team.Participate in key technical and design discussions with technical leads in the team as a hands-on manager. Excellent cross-team collaboration and communication skills. Empowers teams to be accountable for decisions through clear definition of boundaries/areas of ownership for decisions. Demonstrates bias towards action.Strong problem solving skills, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail. You own this if you…Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.In-depth hands on experience with large scale data warehousing using Redshift/Teradata or equivalent data warehouse technology.5 Years’ experience in data engineering and business intelligence.5 Years with various ETL technologies building data pipelines.2 Year’s experience of leading teams as a people manager with a demonstrated ability to hiring and growing engineers.Strong experience with logical and physical data modeling.Experience in AWS or Azure cloud technologies. Extensive experience designing data integration using streaming, services/API, ETL methods.Hands on experience in performance optimization & tuning of data warehouse.Programming experience in Python, Java, Ruby or other language is a plus.Experience in building large scale, high-volume data warehouse environment is a plus.We’ve got you covered...
