It is the primary responsibility of the Apprentice Bartender to service guests in a courteous, timely, and professional manner while ensuring his/her outlet is clean, organized, and properly stocked at all times. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Mirage policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Clean all equipment, tools, and supplies maintaining equipment in good working order.
  • Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner making them feel welcome; Bid farewell to guests, using guest's name when known, and encourage them to return.
  • Demonstrate S.H.O.W. Service Basics for guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the bar.
  • Stock the bar with supplies necessary for service.
  • Complete opening side duties which includes: checking quality and amount of all bar stock and supplies through checklist; setting up bottles in display cabinet and speed rail; checking condition and cleanliness of blender, shaker and other tools; checking temperature of refrigeration units and glass wash machine.
  • Re-fill ice cooler's, garnish trays, straws, napkins and prepare garnishments to standard.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method and garnishes for each drink.
  • Assist Bartender to provide food service as needed.
  • Perform all opening and closing duties, based upon shift assignment.
  • All items rung into the POS system while following all cash handling procedures.
  • Anticipate the guests' needs and responding appropriately with a sense of urgency.
  • Work as a team, assisting all guests' and employees' needs and inquiries.
  • Must have the ability to assist Bartenders on the execution of service and following the bartender's direction.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Follow all procedures, standard policies and initiatives and policies set forth by the company, division and department.
  • Follow all health sanitization and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Successful completion of Restaurant Training Program and testing is required.
  • Performs all other job related duties as assigned.

Required:

  • At least 6 months of experience as a Bar Porter, Apprentice Bartender, Bartender or other F&B service role.
  • Ability to Mix and Serve drinks following standard recipes.
  • Working knowledge of beverage product, supplies and equipment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skill to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
