The position will require working with groups of 30 or more people, including children in grades K – 12, in both the aquarium and classroom settings.

  • Position interprets the Aquarium's living collection to school groups and private groups through exciting and entertaining programs and classroom activities.
  • Position will assist Education Manager and Educator Biologist in Outreach programs at local schools, community centers, auditoriums, etc.
  • Position will require local travel, and possible handling of live animals.
  • Answer school tour reservation telephone line, and take school group and outreach reservations using Outlook.
  • Package school tour information to be sent to teachers, including creating mailing labels and preparing envelopes for mailing.
  • Assist Education Manager and/or Educator Biologist as needed.
  • Maintains both public and animal safety by monitoring visitor behavior, correcting where necessary, advising supervisor and/or animal care of abnormal situations.
  • Performs guests' tours in both front and back of house areas of the aquarium as directed.
  • Assists with guest dive programs, through tours, tending and set up.
  • Performs all other job related duties as requested.

  • Ability to speak clearly and present to large groups of guest/students.
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • Associate Degree with a focus in Biology.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
