Perform job functions and duties associated with Department Attorneys in the delivery of legal services to MGM Resorts International and its subsidiary organizations. Employees in this position perform a variety of duties including assisting with the investigation of and response to claims against MGM Resorts and its subsidiaries, compliance reporting and matter tracking, basic legal research and drafting, and associated general administrative and legal support, as well as assisting the Legal Department with compliance with all critical immigration matters, including immigrant and non-immigrant visa petitions, and acting as a liaison with external legal counsel and consultants in the provision of visa and audit services to the organization. The position requires general knowledge of legal terminology and legal principles, good legal writing skills, ability to perform legal research with library and/or electronic resources tools, good analytical and organizational skills and strong communications skills.

  • Assist with investigation of complaints/claims filed against MGM Resorts International and subsidiary organizations with federal and/or state agencies (e.g. EEOC, NERC, DOL, Labor Commission, NLRB), including gathering documents/information/data and conducting interviews of potential witnesses. Under supervision of Department Attorneys prepare responses, correspondence and other communications to agencies.
  • Maintain and update various compliance and matter tracking systems and databases to assist in tracking and reporting on the various matters handled by the Department.
  • Provide assistance to external legal counsel in arbitration and litigation matters as requested, as well as acts as a liaison with outside immigration counsel on immigration matters for the Company.
  • Work in collaboration with corporate and property business partners to review and respond to employment-related records requests, subpoenas and related demands, as well as acts as a business partner to properties and corporate departments in the acquisition of appropriate immigrant and non-immigrant visas for key personnel in the United States and in the acquisition of appropriate documentation for U.S. citizen employees working in foreign locations.
  • Provide administrative support for Department Attorneys as needed.
  • Prepare correspondence, policies, procedures, reports and other legal documents for review by Department Attorneys. Assist with distribution of any such documents to corporate personnel as required.
  • Perform traditional and computer based legal research and analysis regarding labor and employment matters; prepare legal memoranda regarding the outcome of such research.
  • Perform other job related duties as requested.

Required:

  • At least 2 years of legal or human resources office experience and a certificate of completion or degree from a paralegal certificate education program or other post-secondary institution.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) designation.
  • Experience with human resources, labor relations, immigration and/or litigation matters.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
