POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS

• Operates all equipment used in the process of caring for greens, tees, fairways, approaches, roughs, bunkers, cart paths, stream banks, and property perimeters while paying close attention to other employees and guests ensuring their safety while operating equipment.
• Takes care of equipment and facilities according to management standards, ensuring proper storage, cleaning, and preventative maintenance on a daily basis.
• Reports equipment problems and safety issues to management.
• Responsible for setting tee markers and cups, removing debris, and filling divots on a daily basis.
• Waters and fertilizers greens, tees, fairways, approaches and roughs as instructed by the superintendent and/or assistant superintendent.
• Under direct supervision of a certified applicator, apply any liquid fertilizers or pesticide used on the course.
• Helps in any project work that is being done on the golf course to include but not limited to soil aeration, grading and preparing soil base, laying sod, and seeding any areas as instructed.
• Excavates and backfill ditches and trenches with hand tools.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director of Grounds and/or Asst. Superintendents.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum one-year golf course maintenance or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Ability to understand and follow directions associated with routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance.
• Perform semi-skilled maintenance work involving frequent walking and occasionally riding small powered and non-powered equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

• Constantly planning, remembering/paying attention to/observing details.
• Constantly mentally alert to achieve high level of accuracy in completing tasks.
• Constantly standing, walking several miles, balancing, eye/hand coordination, and sitting.
• Frequently hearing, listening, directing others, and following directions.
• Continually bending/stooping, reaching, lifting heavy objects, carrying, kneeling, and smelling.
• Occasionally asked to work long hours for special project and events.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work performed outdoors, in variable conditions and temperatures. Employee will be exposed to dust, pollen, grass, and hot and cold temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:

Regular scheduled hours. Must be flexible if needed for occasional work outside of normal business hours.
