Description

Responsibilities:

Conveyors, electrical motors, material handling equipment, skill saws, propane torch, man-lift, hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, grinders, electrical test equipment, ladders.

Essential Functions

  • Performs preventative and spontaneous maintenance on lift equipment jacks, chargers, and batteries
  • Performs preventative and spontaneous maintenance on conveyors

Performs general building maintenance including overhead doors, construction repair, roll carts, floor repair and second level gates, doors, etc. Performs light plumbing maintenance on occasion

  • Performs various carpentry assignments as needed
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Use personal vehicle to pick up parts and equipment
  • Regular attendance
  • Work as a team member by interacting and communicating with fellow associates in a cooperative, constructive manner
  • Relays direction from supervisor to junior technicians and assistants
  • Uses initiative to ensure efficient assignments of junior technicians/assistants to projects/tasks
  • Orders needed repair parts for equipment with supervisors approval
  • Works safely and in accordance with Staples safety policies

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Basic:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience
  • Strong electrical/electronic troubleshooting skills
  • Mechanical aptitude, knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics, and ability to read

blueprints/schematics

  • Material handling equipment certification
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Good attitude and willingness to go above and beyond stated duties
  • Ability to work overtime with little or no notice based on facility operational requirements
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot complex automated electrical control systems
  • Ability to use vendor manuals and procedures to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting tasks
  • Ability to program logic devices
  • Understanding of low voltage DC electrical systems
  • Ability to work with high voltages (up to 480VAC) in troubleshooting and repair of motor control and lighting systems
  • Ability to design and fabricate devices required to improve system operation or aid in equipment maintenance functions
  • Proven excellent computer skills
  • Proven excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and accomplish work with little supervision
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds to 100 pounds frequently

Work requires moderate physical effort and use of motor skills requiring manual dexterity. While performing duties of this job, employee will regularly stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch. Employee may lift, lower, push, pull or carry product up to a maximum of 70 pounds by hand. Require physical effort associated with using the personal computer and RF scanners to enter information.
