Responsibilities:

The District Loss Prevention Manager (DLPM) is responsible for ensuring profitability in the NA Retail Stores organization by driving Shrink and Accident Reduction. The District Loss Prevention Manager Conducts Audits, Criminal and Procedural Investigations and ensures execution of Environmental and other Regulatory Compliance Objectives. The District Loss Prevention Manager supports store teams and District Sales Managers within multiple Districts averaging 41 stores. Travels up to 75% of the time to assigned areas in markets across business units.

  • Execute strategies to reduce shrink. This includes execution of the High Shrink Store Program, Witness Reward Program, Shrink Captain, and other programs that support low shrink. Train teams to minimize shrink impact during new store construction, remodels, and store closings. Manage the physical security aspects of the stores to include CCTV, Burglary & Fire systems, electronic article surveillance (EAS), and other installations as needed.
  • Conduct investigations to identify, resolve, and prevent Internal and External Theft in the stores of multiple assigned districts. Make recommendations to impact issues related to Internal Theft for the company. Ensure proper documentation for potential termination and / or prosecution of dishonest associates and shoplifters.
  • Conduct required Audits to improve results by ensuring deficiencies are corrected. Make recommendations to update company policies and procedures to impact results.
  • Support District Sales Managers and Store Managers within multiple assigned districts to drive shrink and accident reduction, environmental compliance and response to critical incidents / emergency response issues through leadership coaching and communication.
  • Ensure stores within multiple assigned districts execute strategies to create a safe environment for employees and customers. Identify hazards during visits. Make recommendations to drive accident reduction companywide.
  • Ensure compliance to state and local environmental laws within the multiple assigned districts. Support store and corporate teams with research and response as needed when audited by government agencies.
  • Manage execution of the retail stores' Physical Inventory Process. Training management on how to prepare and execute the inventory process, selecting inventory controllers, conducting physical inventory audits, review and analyze results, and make recommendations for process improvement.
  • Conduct investigations to identify and resolve company hotline concerns and provide investigative support to business partners for active procedural and regulatory cases as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience(Business, Management, Criminal Justice, Accounting, Law)
  • Minimum 7 to 9 years' experience in related field
  • Minimim 2 years supervisory experience
  • Interview / Interrogation, Preferred: LPC, CFI, CFE, PCI

Other Information:

Communication:

  • Must be comfortable communicating with all levels of the organization- explaining cash office procedures with an hourly associate or providing a Vice President the recap of a critical incident.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required for all area of responsibility-recording a store audit or providing testimony in a court case.
  • Must be comfortable training associates in policy and procedure as well as presenting information to groups.
  • Easily builds partnerships with business partners.

Investigation and Interview Knowledge:

  • Has a solid understanding of investigative techniques, applicable laws and industry practices.
  • Understanding proper procedures for pursuing criminal prosecution while working in various legal jurisdictions and with different law enforcement organizations.
  • Demonstrates comfort in conducting investigative interviews.
  • Conducts investigative interviews with professionalism and respect for the individual.
  • Ability to manage and maintain confidential information.
  • Provides clear explanation of company values / expectations and demonstrates them during coaching employees.
  • Recognizes opportunities to improve existing policy and procedure and provides recommendations for change.

Business Knowledge:

  • Knowledgeable of the Office Depot mainframe system to research a variety of audit or investigation issues.
  • Proficient with computer skills required by the web-based audit system, exception reporting system, case management system, and other administrative tasks required for the position.

Project Management:

  • Required to manage a variety of projects and performance measures for a multiple district assignment.
  • Detail oriented- conducts thorough audits and store evaluations.
  • Strong organizational skill.
  • Develop and deliver presentations at leadership meetings

Physical Security and Safety Awareness:

  • Provide professional assessment of risk and a physical security plan stores in the assigned area.
  • Providing guidance to stores during crisis
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA guidelines for injury, illness and prevention programs.
