Job Description

Summary:

Works with the Senior Director of Learning and Development, the Training and Operations Field Representative, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to apply the full range of the A.D.D.I.E. (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) process, to produce instructor-led, self-paced, and eLearning curricula which is grounded in contemporary and emerging adult-learning theories and best practices that will transform Marco's University into a best-in-class corporate learning and development institution.

Core Responsibilities

(20%) Project Management, Training Delivery, and Miscellaneous Tasks

  • Plan, schedule and track projects, maintaining aggressive deadlines and communicate/ overcome issues/risks/roadblocks in a timely manner, within prescribed intent and plans
  • Work with project teams to create and launch quality materials on time and on (ideally under) budget
  • Present recommendations and designs and report on project status
  • Work with vendors in creating learning components
  • Work closely with Instructional Systems Designer(s) to assist with the production and editing audio, video, and multimedia training content
  • Perform other tasks as directed to build Marco's University into a best-in-class learning & development institution and to support Marco's Franchising, LLC
  • Facilitate instructor-led training sessions as required
  • Facilitate eLearning and self-paced learning as required

(80%) Curriculum/ Content Research, Design, and Writing

  • Work with SMEs and learners to identify training needs (gaps) and to then build quality, measurable learning objectives to eliminate or mitigate those gaps
  • Design high-impact, criterion-based learning experiences to improve team member performance that is reflected in business results
  • Research and identify appropriate delivery approaches, training methodologies, and technologies
  • Develop training materials to optimize the use of technology and ensure appropriate delivery methods for adult learners
  • Establish training program/course learning objectives and develop valid and reliable assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of those objectives, as well as the content built to teach them
  • Apply the instructional design process (A.D.D.I.E.) to all projects, yet remain flexible enough to complete projects within pre-established timeframes and budgets
  • Assist the Instructional Systems Designer with creating storyboards, trainer's notes, participant materials, video, and multimedia scripts/ other documents
  • Analyze curriculum needs and incorporate the findings (using post-training data) into continuous improvement of learning experiences
  • Perform assessments that lead to data-driven design proposals and recommendations
  • Work closely with SMEs, marketing, communications, and other departments to develop and update interactive training curriculum/communications
  • Apply sound evaluation practices to build both academic and hands-on data-producing quizzes, exams, and exercises
  • As needed, research advancements in adult learning theories and best practices in order to ensure that Marco's University attains, and remains, best-in-class status

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in Curriculum (Masters degree a plus), Adult Learning, Training and Development, Learning and Development, or a closely aligned field
  • ATD certifications (e.g. CpLP, Master Instructional Designer, Master Trainer, etc) a strong plus
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in applying the A.D.D.I.E. (or similar Instructional Design methodology) process to build adult learning programs and content (experience with corporate universities or similar institutions a plus)
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience with using or managing an LMS (e.g. Black Board, Moodle, Canvas Instructure, Cornerstone OnDemand, etc) a strong plus
  • Understanding of technical writing a strong plus
  • Demonstrated ability to logically organize complex information and to then transform it into professionally designed, engaging, and effective adult learning programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are an absolute must
  • Strong record-keeping and critical thinking skills are needed
  • The ability to think abstractly, yet analyze linearly a strong plus
  • Familiarity with eLearning authoring software such as Adobe Captivate 5.5 or higher, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, .XML/html, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects. Adobe Audition, Articulate Replay, Snag-it will be considered a strong plus
  • Must have the ability to work as part of a larger team, to balance multiple tasks/objectives, and to have high levels of flexibility in an usually fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to collaborate with others, including team members, supervisors and managers, and to work effectively with employees at all levels across multiple departments
  • Must be able to apply tact when dealing with others
  • Demonstrate initiative and a results based orientation
  • Must have the ability to collect, interpret, and summarize data
  • Experience in building franchise training programs will be a strong plus
  • Experience and high comfort level with public speaking and presenting instruction a strong plus

Candidates who progress to a face-to-face interview will be asked to:

  • provide samples of their curriculum/ content design work
  • provide at least three professional and three personal references
  • present a 3-5 minute block of instruction grounded in adult learning theory
  • relocate to Toledo, OH
