SUMMARY

The Merchandising Operations Analyst provides support for the current integrated operating model (IOM), as well as support for new initiatives within a constantly evolving business environment. The Analyst allows Inventory Analysts, Merchandise Planning and Category Mangers to focus on their business by eliminating obstacles and providing operational support. The Analyst works cross-functionally to review, improve, and document business processes, and provide business partners with accurate and timely data and/or analysis to help them make business decisions. The Analyst is responsible for governance of merchandise hierarchy, and driving for consistent and standardized reporting across Inventory and Merchandising, including partnering with IT to migrate to enterprise solutions were applicable. The Analyst is an integral part of the Company's strategic initiatives by creating value through actionable business insight delivered through process, systems and reporting enhancements and tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

40% Reporting and Analysis

  • Partner with IOM teams to document, consolidate and standardize Sales and Inventory Reporting
  • Partner with IOM teams to fill needs for data, reporting, analytics and insights relating to Inventory availability and disposition, sales, profit, in stocks, advertising, replenishment, and other key merchandising drivers.
  • Partner with Merchandising Systems Business Analyst and IT to translate business requirements into technical requirements for implementation of reporting and ad-hoc analysis tools
  • Develop relationships with Merchant and Inventory Teams through active involvement in business decisions
  • Provide variance and root cause driver analysis to support decision-making and analysis to support the goals of the merchandising teams

35% Reporting, Analysis, Scorecard and Presentation Development

  • Partner with leadership to prepare various projects, reports, analysis, presentations, and scorecards
  • Partner with the business team members to develop performance management activities
  • Partner with business team members to both develop and conduct user training for the use of Business Intelligence systems, financial concepts and performance metrics
  • Develop business requirements for "Best in Class" balanced reporting and ad-hoc analysis tools, which include metrics and drivers used to understand business results and meet both financial and business commitments as defined by leadership
  • Produce daily/weekly and monthly/quarterly reporting packages for senior leadership

15% System Data Testing and Project Management

  • Lead user acceptance testing during implementation of system enhancements and implementation of new systems and/or system capabilities
  • Support system activities including, but not limited to, end user support, data validation and reconciliation
  • Lead small to medium cross-functional and cross-departmental projects with medium complexity and cross-system impacts

10% Business Process Development and Enhancement

  • Lead system enhancement process to support forecasting and annual planning processes
  • Participate in development and implementation of Data Governance processes
  • Effectively communicate and translate results into business insights and actions
  • Identify and establish metrics and drivers to help leaders understand business results and meet both financial and business commitments

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experienced in the use of Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Visio; Excel VBA experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Experience with Replenishment Systems and CMS Core Merchandising Systems
  • Experience with Oracle Merchandise Financial Planning (MFP), or other financial planning tools
  • Knowledge of general replenishment and merchandising systems
  • Familiar with P&L reporting and metrics-based reports
  • Understanding of merchandise planning and replenishment, merchandising, business, and supply chain processes
  • Experiece with financial planning applications and/or processes
  • Project management/process improvement experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to present information and interact effectively across all levels of the organization; ability to cultivate relationships across functions to achieve business objectives and drive strategic change

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years' experience in relevant fields (retail preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience
