The IT Help Desk Specialist at the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) is responsible for providing technical assistance to the greater organization in a supporting role within the IT Department. Help Desk Specialist is a full-time position and reports directly to the Systems Administrator.
-Install workstations, laptops, and peripheral devices
-Troubleshoot and resolve Help Desk tickets related to basic hardware and software issues:
Hardware issues: desktop, printers, point-of-sale hardware, etc.
Software issues: MS Windows, MS Office, point-of-sale applications, etc.
-Perform maintenance functions such as user creation and assignment of rights and permissions
-Provide quick responses to requests and effectively keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously
-Recognize and escalate more difficult issues
-Maintain availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

-Strong work ethic, strong communication skills, and problem-solving abilities
-Ability to work with a team and be coachable
-Ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area
-Two or more years of IT support or IT Help Desk experience is preferred
-Familiarity with the MS Windows domain environment, Windows 7, and MS Office suite
Physical Requirements
-Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl frequently
-Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
-Close vision and the ability to focus
