LSA Movers is seeking an entry level moving professional to join our team. The Mover I position is a key part of our group that will assist the needs of multiple units and will support the maintenance of classrooms across LSA. This role requires an individual with excellent customer services skills, a strong sense of self-motivation, and a demonstrated ability to work in teams.
Responsibilities*
* Move office, department and apartment furniture such as desks, cabinets, stoves, refrigerators and beds.
* Stage classroom furniture and equipment.
* Configure, disassemble and reassemble furniture.
* Assemble and install partitions, whiteboards, keyboard trays etc.
* Move large Dewar flasks such as liquid helium, nitrogen or other gas mixtures.
* Transport stock and equipment.
* Operate motor vehicles such as vans, pick-ups, and single unit (box) trucks.
* Provide customer service to department standards.
* Clean assigned area of work and equipment.
Required Qualifications*
* High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Must have strong communication skills, including the ability to read and write English.
* Must be able to move items over 50lbs.
* Must have valid driver's license.
* Must be able to pass DOT exam within three months.
* Must have previous experience working on furniture and seating in an educational setting.
Desired Qualifications*
* One year expeirence in classroom support rerlated positions.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Staff and Faculty.
* Extensive knowledge of LSA facilities and classrooms.
* Past experience using a variety of power and hand tools.
* Knowledge of moving office equipment and furniture.
* Experience working in a team concept.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the AFSCME union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
