The Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) is a customer-oriented agency responsible for managing various business-related functions throughout state government. Under the direction of Governor Rick Scott and DMS' Executive Leadership Team, the agency oversees the real estate, procurement, human resources, group insurance, retirement, telecommunications, private prisons, and fleet and federal property assistance programs utilized throughout Florida's state government. The Department of Management Services is relied upon to establish, maintain and improve the business processes used by state employees to create a better, not bigger government. The Department of Management Services facilitates the delivery of these programs and services and provides tools and training to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of the state's workforce. Position responsibilities:

This is an entry-level position which requires knowledge of general office procedures and practices. The incumbent, under direct supervision, is responsible for:

Handling errands and deliveries for the Division

Gathering, sorting and processing of mail by utilizing advanced mailing equipment

Applying USPS Rules and Regulations

Preparing documents for scanning and indexing files

Handling correspondence from participating employers which include all state and county

agencies, university systems, and various local entities

Organize and inserts Division documents into envelopes using a folder/inserter machine for

mailing.

Other related duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic arithmetic, correct grammar usage, and computer programs such as Word. Ability to use letter opening machines, scanners, and postage meter equipment. Ability to use folder/inserter equipment. Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of secretarial or clerical work experience.

College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.

Vocational/technical training in the area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.

A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.

A valid and applicable driver's license.

No speeding tickets or any other driving violations, other than a parking ticket, in the past 5 years.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to tolerate long periods of time standing as well as sitting and preparing documents and using repetitive motions.

Ability to work the hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
