Job Description

The primary purpose of the Charcuterie Associate is to educate our customers about the wide variety of cured meats, imported hams, and other deli products. This individual is responsible for providing friendly, courteous and helpful customer service while preparing customer orders.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1.       Provide superior customer service as defined by Di Bruno Bros. within the scope of Company policy

2.       Educate customers about the charcuterie products available in the store

3.       Maintain an awareness of all product information, merchandise promotions, test merchandise and advertisements

4.       Maintain the highest level of standards in all cutting and product preparation and preservation

5.       Initiate suggestive selling and sampling of products

6.       Competency in setting up and breaking down the department, including central displays

7.       Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products

8.       Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise

9.       Participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock

10.   Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices

11.   Communicate any customer special requests to management

12.   Communicates with coworkers and management to solve problems and improve quality and service

13.   Creative merchandising, including the building of effective displays

14.   Taking assigned inventory and assisting in ordering and developing production quantities

15.   Additional duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS

·         A minimum of 6 months in a similar role within the charcuterie industry

·         Working knowledge of charcuterie and condiments

·         Participation in continuous education to further knowledge of products

·         Ability to communicate clearly with customers and fellow Associates

·         Ability to incrementally impact sales in a positive manner

·         Proficiency in customer service

·         Ability to read, write and count

·         Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure

·         Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store

·         Ability to work varied hours/days as dictated by business.

·         Ability to consistently care for and service the product and displays, including cutting, wrapping and utilization of the cryovac machine

While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The individual is required to stand for the majority of their shift and will frequently be required to walk or stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The individual will occasionally be required to sit and climb or balance.

The individual must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The performance of this position requires that the individual come into contact with both co-workers and the public. Knives and special utensils must be used in order to prepare cheese for sale. For the most part, ambient room temperatures and lighting are found as in a typical retail store.

Due to the nature of our industry, the performance of this position will require the individual to spend time in a facility in which he/she will be exposed, either directly or indirectly, to potential food allergens including (but not limited to): peanuts, gluten, corn, egg, fish, milk, shellfish, soy, tree nut and wheat.
