Shift Supervisor, 3rd Shift, in Commerce, CA.

3rd Shift: Wednesday – Sunday, 8PM – 4:30AM.

 

Position Description:

  • Responsible for the motivation, coaching and leading in the supervision of hourly associates. 
  • Administers and maintains company policies, guidelines and warehouse documentation that supports daily operations.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the logistics department. 
  • May specialize in Front End Logistics and/or Shipping. 
  • Supervises a team of hourly and non-exempt associates. 
  • Thorough knowledge of principles, concepts and methodology underlying the Logistics discipline.

Skills Required:

  • Successfully communicates business needs to drive an engaged, high level of performance.
  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors to ensure maximum efficiency in production and logistics.
  • Coordinates labor resources to ensure all functions have an adequate number of associates to perform job responsibilities in a cost-effective manner.
  • Provides input on hiring direct reports. 
  • Establishes and maintains high performing work groups / teams.  
  • Coaches, mentors, and trains associates to ensure successful performance. 
  • Partners with direct reports to complete the Performance Management Process, establishing annual goals, and formally evaluating performance within established company timeframes. Provides salary increase input to Leaders on direct reports.
  • Utilizes recognition tools to reward strong performance. 
  • Manages associate relations issues, including but not limited to corrective actions and terminations as appropriate and in compliance with Company policies and procedures. 
  • Consistently and fairly administers company policies to ensure positive associate relations.
  • Ensures safety is a primary focus and concern for all associates and work is performed in a safe, appropriate manner. 
  • Support and updates safety requirements, enforces programs and completes accident investigations / corrective action.
  • Trains associates on proper work techniques to support established systems.
  • Upon request, provides investigative, analytic, problem-solving services that affect a wide range of the department's activities or the operation of other departments.
  • Reconciles payroll entries with schedule/hours worked and tracks attendance.
  • Builds relationships and maintains ongoing rapport with associates and internal/external customers.
  • Effectively interprets customer inquiries/requests and takes appropriate action to produce high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for project/process management activities for smaller scoped projects or processes within department or components of larger scoped projects or processes that have impact within or beyond own department.
  • Implements change management and process improvement activities.
  • Assist in achieving dept. goals, objectives and performance.
  • Assist in ensuring metrics are adhere to.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all equipment has the proper safety devices/protection is safe to operate.

Required Experience:

  • High School degree required.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment to solve problems outside of standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to seek cooperation, persuade and influence associates, peers, and internal/external customers.
  • Previous leadership experience or demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Proficient with tools including forecasting, data analysis, work cell organization, goal setting, lean manufacturing, 5S, summarizing and reporting results.
  • Promotes, supports, and participates in diversity programs at locations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain high performing work groups.
  • First hand working knowledge of all regulatory compliance programs (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
  • Supports diversity and inclusion in the workplace. 
  • Educates others and builds a diverse workforce. 
  • Promotes, supports, and participates in diversity programs at locations.
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of supervisory  experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain high performing work groups.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and occasional holidays (weekends are part of the normal work schedule).
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
