POSITION SUMMARY
The General Manager within the Distribution & Warehousing business is responsible for the success of assigned functions within a distribution center environment. The GM areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following: Inbound Operations (unloading and receiving), Warehouse Operations (all functions), Outbound Operations (small parcel, LTL and FTL shipments), Transportation Operations (carrier relations) and/or Inventory Management (e.g. daily cycle counts and audits). The GM works with the Vice President, Operations to develop strategies and objectives to maximize productivity and leverage expenses for the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Implement and maintain new warehousing solutions, including material handling equipment, processes, and quality and productivity standards.
Implement policies and procedures to ensure that quality and productivity standards are achieved and maintained. Through collaboration with Assistant DC Managers ensure inventory maintenance, warehouse design and slotting is being conducted as required based on analysis.
Ensure that all orders are processed according to company standards and operational performance for activities such as inventory integrity, quality packaging and packing, timely receiving and verification of incoming and all types of outgoing shipments and documentation, proper handling and disposition of inventory, and keeping distribution center inventory records current and accurate through appropriate and timely cycle counting and inventory procedures.
Secure the distribution centers from internal and external losses due to theft and casualty threats. Ensure adherence to all laws regulating distribution centers, offices, and break rooms.
The GM working in concert with the Operations Manager is responsible for developing a "fiscally responsible attitude" within the facility, looking for all opportunities to reduce costs through recycling boxes, ensuring minimum number of containers utilized for outbound orders while not jeopardizing quality and order integrity, reducing waste, utilizing only appropriate volume of overtime and investigating all opportunities to reduce costs and improve D.C. efficiency.
Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of all administrative reporting of vendor receiving, employee hours, personnel action notices, customer returns, including refused shipments, transfer receiving/variances, and inventory inquiries required by the Tucker Rocky sales force.
Ensure that distribution center coordinates efforts efficiently with activities of other company functions such as sales, H/R, accounting and products department.
Ensure that the facility is maintained in a safe and secure manner as prescribed by Company policies and procedures. Direct and participate in planning and ensuring employee and facility safety activities.

SKILLS
Strong excel and other Microsoft Office product experience
Highly organized, and familiarity with Six Sigma methodology
Hazmat certified OSHA experienced
Strong analytical skills, detail oriented, and able to implement process improvement procedures
Experienced with DOT regulations and requirements
Experienced managing deadlines and handling a fast-paced environment
Able to manage competing priorities to accomplish the needs of the organization
Demonstrated ability to get positive results through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations, training and group facilitation skills.
Ability to think strategically with strong analytical and problem solving skills in a decentralized environment.
High ethical standards.
Excellent communication skills (oral & written).
Strong ability to handle inventory management, including physical inventory, cycle counts, and reduce waste or shrinkage.
Ability to collaborate across company or brand lines may be required.
Previous experience running a plant or warehouse as the decision maker is required.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a Distribution Center environment
EXPERIENCE
5+ years’ related warehousing and supervisory experience, preferably within a similar environment
Running a Distribution Center, Warehouse, Plant as the decision maker is required
Strong leadership, effective communication skills, and problem-solving ability
Experienced working in warehousing systems and programs
Experience in establishing and monitoring safety protocols and procedures that adhere to OSHA Standards and Requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a distribution center/warehouse conditions.
High noise environment based on activity levels.
Periodic to frequent travel, as required.
Flexible, adaptable to changing work demands.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to Vice President, Operations.
May lead a team of direct reports between 4 to 8 people based on growth.
Must be able to communicate across all levels of the organization, up to and including, the President of the organization and senior leadership/management across enterprise.
