Job Description

The Trinity River Authority is seeking a Senior Electronic Technician for its Denton Creek Regional Wastewater System facility in Roanoke, Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position performs a variety of work including calibration, electrical repair, maintenance and installation of highly sophisticated instrumentation and remote data acquisition telemetry. Assumes responsibility for the work of others as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs installation, repair, maintenance and routine calibration for instrumentation and controls utilized in the operation and monitoring of water/wastewater treatment and flow measurement including telemetry. Responds to critical equipment failures when required. Maintains and calibrates in-shop and repair, and test equipment.

2. Updates repair procedures as required. Analyzes job requirements, i.e., material, labor and expertise as needed. Ability to use technical manuals, engineering drawings and one-line diagrams.

3. Monitors and maintains records of work performed. Maintains records of work performed. Assists in the maintenance of files and records of electronic equipment and work order management systems.

4. Maintains and calibrates safety equipment, including confined space entry equipment, arc flash and Personal Protective Equipment. Performs all duties while observing safety guidelines and security measures as established by the Authority.

5. Makes recommendations concerning spare parts inventory and electronic equipment to be purchased. Assist in drafting bid specifications.

6. Directly supervises one or more maintenance crew to include training, scheduling and performance evaluation. Assists Electronic Technicians as required on more complicated jobs. May perform duties of the Electronic Technician, Chief as required.

WORK LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Regularly leads the work of other employees.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Orders supplies, equipment parts, materials, equipment for department use as approved by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
(required level of education)
High school diploma or GED. 60 hours college credit or equivalent technical experience preferred. Approved training courses in electronics preferred.

EXPERIENCE
(minimum years and types of related experience required)
Three years of related experience in the repair and maintenance of sophisticated electronic apparatus. Mathematical ability required to calculate equations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
(any specialized certifications licenses or registrations required by TRA or other authority in order to do the job, including those the incumbent must be able to obtain)
Valid Texas driver's license. Current Class II Collection System required if working in Collection System or Class C Water Operators license required at the water plant as issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality or the ability to obtain one within two years from date of hire. Confined space entry and Personal Protective Equipment Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months from date of hire.

KNOWLEDGE

Must possess understanding of A.C. and D.C. analog and digital electronics and instrumentation. Must have knowledge to support, configure and maintain client server, and related hardware for the proprietary flow measurement instrumentation and remote telemetry programs to ensure consistent, reliable and accurate flow measurement devices. Maintain a sufficient level of knowledge of operating systems and widely used application software to provide the appropriate levels of operation and support. Mathematical understanding for use in job related equations.

Requires a high degree of mental attentiveness, problem solving, patience and persistence with a high degree of concentration. Some supervisory ability required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires moderate to heavy physical labor with daily lifting requirements up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, and working in cramped and strained positions for extended periods.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions include exposure to weather, odor, noise, moving mechanical parts, waste (liquid and solid), chemical hazards, gases and dust. Also, confined space entry, heights, inside vaults, and working while using personal protective equipment. May be required to work hours other than regular daytime schedules, such as shift work, nights, weekends and holidays.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Precision and exotic test equipment, diagnostic equipment including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes and signal transmitters, electrically insulated hand tools, office equipment, two-way radio, pickup truck, power tools, calibration and maintenance equipment, analog and digital equipment, and office equipment.
