Job Description

We are hiring a District Manager for a high level position with one of our top clients in the DC Metro area.  This is a great opportunity for a Food Service professional who has had the following experience:

  • Successful high volume multi-unit management

  • Working with Government, University or a large Corporate client

Please note:  A requirement of this position is the ability to pass a Government background and financial check.  TS clearance a plus!

JOB SUMMARY

The District Manager provides management and oversight to ensure all requires of the multi-unit client contract are met.  The District Manager will lead the unit managers and operations in the assigned district and be responsible for overall financial performance.  The District Manager will be the primary point of contact with the client while ensuring all client expectations are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Sets goals for the division, while developing organization and structure.  Plans, identifies, communicates, and delegates key responsibilities and practices to reporting managers to ensure smooth flow of operations.

  • Maintain an excellent relationship with the client.

  • Anticipate client needs and respond to client requests in a positive manner.

  • Identify and address potential issues prior to client involvement.

  • Prepare and submit contract status review to client as requested by client.

  • Reviews unit environments and key business indicators within the district to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement in order to provide coaching to the unit management team to take action and achieve operational goals.

  • Keep appropriate client personnel informed of contractual issues and/or discrepancies.

  • Maintain open communication with the Company personnel of official communication with client, discrepancies and concerns

  • Provide equitable treatment to all employees in order to ensure and maintain very high level of morale

  • Ensure that the Company is following the correct procedures for staff compensation, discipline and promotions as per the Union requirements and the Company standards.

  • Develops strategic and operational plans to support execution of division and company initiatives to achieve both operational excellence and business results.

  • Ability to manage through unusual events to keep the district operating to the Company's standards.

  • Monitors and manages district-wide management staffing.

  • Communicates clearly and accurately to all levels of management in order to ensure effective unit operations.

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

  • Management, Culinary or Associate's degree in food service or related field strongly preferred.  

  • At least 5 years multi-unit management or equivalent level position experience with minimum sales volume of $5 million required.

  • Previous experience with Government and Union Food Service operations highly desired.

  • Computer proficiency with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Experience with POS systems.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

  • Experience in analyzing financial reports.

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.  

  • Strong management and leadership characteristics and must have "vision", i.e. ability to visualize long range impact of decisions

  • Ability to problem solve; experience in complex, fast-paced environments

  • Working knowledge of the business processes and system development.  Strong customer service background.     

 

This position requires that the District Manager will be on the floor monitoring the staff and spot checking all aspects of the units.  At times The District Manager will need to lift and carry items up to 20 lbs. and will need to have the ability to withstand colder temperatures.  This position also requires the ability to travel between different units within a geographic area.
