Job Description

The Habitat Lehigh Valley ReStore is a nonprofit store that takes donations of reusable building materials and home goods, and resells them to the public, in order to provide funding for Habitat for Humanity's home building program. For almost 30 years, Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley, has been serving low income, hard working, deserving, families in the Lehigh Valley. Responsible for the daily ReStore operation including: Overseeing merchandise coming out to sales floor for sale. Making sure merchandise is displayed properly, safely, and in an organized manner in order to maximize sales. Assist customers as needed. Assist ReStore Associates on register, covering breaks, and handling customer disputes. Must be able to follow opening and closing procedures of store, and POS system. Occasional assistance outside of the store as a donation truck assistant or leading volunteer groups to merchandise items at other warehouse locations. Work with management team to improve store operations to maximize efficiency and productivity.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Supervise sales floor operations, follows sales floor policies, and enforces them

·         Makes sure departments are organized, items are safely displayed, and items are displayed to maximize sales

·         Prepare sales floor for new inventory placement

·         Lead and utilize individual volunteers and groups to accomplish tasks

·         Assist customers with questions, sales, and pickup of purchased items

·         Handle customer disputes and returns

·         Cover ReStore Associate duties during breaks and assist Associates as needed

·         Assist on the truck for donation pickups as needed

·         Be able to drive company vehicles, if needed

·         Work independently at other warehouse locations to merchandise materials and lead volunteer groups to assist

·         Supports and assists ReStore management as needed.

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

CRITICAL PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES:

·         Management and merchandising of inventory to maximize sales.

·         Orderly maintenance of sales floor to take maximum advantage of available space.

·         Demonstrate resourcefulness and ability to work independently and efficiently

·         Maintain safe environment for customers & staff.

·         Demonstrate outstanding leadership, and customer service and relationship skills.

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/ATTRIBUTES

·         Five (5) years retail & cash handling experience with minimum of two (2) years in a leadership role; preferably in the building supply, home improvement and/or hardware industry.

·         Ability to lift moderate to heavy weight, up to 50lbs.

·         Ability to operate trucks, a variety of power tools, machinery and office equipment. (Forklift certified preferred)

·         Committed to a safe, secure work environment.

·         Ability to lead and supervise staff and volunteers, ensuring volunteers as well as customers have an excellent experience.

·         Experience with POS system preferred.

·         Self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic. Team member that enjoys working with people with diverse backgrounds.

·         Ability to handle and defuse challenging situations with tact.

·         Dedicated to the Habitat for Humanity and building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

 

REQUIREMENTS

·         Full Time 32+ hours/week Tuesday-Saturday

·         $12-$14/hour based on experience

·         Subject to drug test, driving record and background check
