Overview

The purpose of the Assistant General Manager (AGM) is to support the General Manager (GM) with all aspects of the Gastropub. AGM must efficiently manage within the policies and guidelines of the company while ensuring great customer satisfaction and excellent unit economics. The AGM will work directly with the GM to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate employee performance and resources of the Gastropub for efficient, well-prepared, and profitable service of food and beverage. AGM must have excellent organizational skills, strong customer service beliefs and a sound leadership ability to motivate and develop employees.

Qualifications

• Foodservice management experience of 2 years of front-of-the-house operations

• Experience directing others

• Great knowledge of full service and food & beverage products in an upscale

restaurant/bar

• A minimum of 2 years of upscale high volume restaurant management

• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize

• Positive attitude and excellent problem solving skills

• Extensive customer service skills

• Working knowledge of Aloha POS

• Strong computer skills

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

• Must have exceptional verbal, written and clear communication skills

• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management, employees

and guests

• Displays great integrity, tact, and diplomacy

• Must be able to work independently, under pressure and with sound business judgment

• Ability to problem solve, reason, motivate, and organize

• Serv Safe Certification

 

Requirements

• Proven experience in restaurant operations with high volume, high end establishments

• Bartending Skills (Mixologist and/or Cicerone)

• Understanding of Craft Beer and Top Spirits

• Concise and accurate communication with staff to ensure effective restaurant operations

• Calm demeanor in fast paced environment

• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment

• Develop positive relationships with staff by understanding and addressing individual motivation and concerns

• Engage with guests to understand their needs or requests

• Assist FOH management with disciplinary matters

• Cross train and develop staff to provide opportunities for growth and advancement

• Set the standard for service expectations by analyzing every aspect of the guest's experience

• Correct any food or beverage issue before it reaches the guest

• Great knowledge and awareness of food and beverage quality

• Deliver excellent customer service which meets or exceeds our expectations

• Maintain an organized, clean and sanitary environment

• Adhere to the brands policies and procedures

• Willing to learn; and able to lead effectively

• Ability to work varying schedules of days, nights, and weekends

• Ability to work ten hour shifts with extensive standing and walking

Responsibilities

• Control day-to-day operations

• Provide excellent customer service and set great work examples

• Understand policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training

programs

• Actively enforce policies and procedures

• Ability to do everything in the FOH

• Tremendous bartender skills

• Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to

recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards

• Resolve complaints concerning food quality and service professionally

• Ensure legal compliance with alcohol and beverage laws and regulations

• Supervise operations to maximize profitability

• Achieve great sales, service, quality, appearance of facility, sanitation and cleanliness

• Monitor staffing levels to minimize cost and increase productivity

• Recommend staffing needs according to business levels

• Proactively manage labor costs

• Maintain and enforce proper hour regulations

• Create a positive, productive working environment

• Control cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation

procedures

• Assist wherever needed to ensure great guest service standards and efficient operations

• Strive to develop your team in all areas of managerial and professional development

• Prepare all required paperwork, reports and schedules in an organized and timely

manner

• Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through

personal inspection.

• Follow preventative maintenance programs

• Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of

the entire Gastropub

• Ensure and maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations

• Ensure that all receivables are correct and in proper condition

• Receive products, verify invoices and freshness of merchandise with consistent quality

control

• Oversee labor and anticipate business while ensuring that all positions are staffed

properly and cut labor when needed to meet cost objectives

• Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager

• Comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations
