Equipment Mechanic - Full-time

Equipment MechanicSalary: $30.25 - $36.77/hour, plus excellent benefits Vista Irrigation District (VID), a governmental water district in N. San Diego County, seeks to fill an Equipment Mechanic position. Under the general direction of the Facilities Supervisor and the leadership of the Senior Equipment Mechanic, performs semi-skilled maintenance and repair of the various types of heavy construction equipment, vehicles, and miscellaneous types of small equipment used by the District. Incumbent applies all standard safety practices. Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of experience as an automotive mechanic (college or trade school-level automotive technology courses may be substituted for up to one year of experience). Experience or training in the maintenance, diagnosis and repair of automobiles, light and heavy duty trucks, off road and construction equipment is required. Experience with Class A vehicle compliance programs (BIT), hydraulic and air brakes and basic oxyacetylene cutting is preferred.
