The Director will advise the administration on all institutional policies and procedures related to the management of physical resources of the University; develop, formalize and implement both short-term and long-term plans, goals and objectives for the department; and ensure applicable code compliance. The position requires some work on weekends, evenings/night and holidays, as needed. The successful candidate will engage in large amounts of walking, extreme temperature conditions and climbing on/off equipment. Minimum Qualifications 1. Considerable knowledge and understanding of general building maintenance practices, procedures and requirements. 2. Significant years of experience in managing facilities operations at a large organization. 3. Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards. 4. Knowledge of energy management and control systems related to building's automated and/or central plant systems. 5. Knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes and ordinances. 6. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret building blueprints, schematic drawings and layouts. 7. Demonstrated ability to operate computers and job related equipment and systems. 8. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and with all levels of trades and management personnel. 9. Valid Virginia Driver's license or eligibility to obtain Virginia Driver's license. 10. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering from an accredited college/university or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
