Circulating/Recovery Nurse

Job Summary: The circulating nurse admits patients to the operating room, assists the scrub tech., and physicians. They assure patient safety and comfort. Also help maintain and assure sterile technique. Organize self and duties to save time and energy. Qualification: Must be at least 18 years of age Must have a nursing degree Must be a R.N. Must speak English fluently Current License in the State of California. Previous experience in the operating room. CPR & ACLS certified. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and assist patient in & out of chair. Demonstrates good communication techniques. Cheerful, warm and caring type personality.   Job Responsibilities: The circulators will carry out the following duties: Turn on all necessary equipment used for that particular case. Check to see if autoclave is heating properly and place sterile instruments on back table. Prepare room with equipment and supplies needed for cases. Open sterile packs and supplies. Be sure patient has completed pre-op orders and all paperwork is completely filled out. Prep patient's operative site and assist in draping the patient, again confirming the correct operative site.   Direct the overhead lights. Obtain any sterile supplies scrub personnel may need. Complete all necessary paperwork. Clean the back table and all necessary equipment which was used for the case. Notify the laboratory the specimens are ready for pick-up.             Remove garbage from the room and at the end of the day. Restock supplies: Wash all equipment, floors, empty sharps containers and turn off all gases. Job Knowledge: Will have a working knowledge of all equipment in the O.R. Maintains working knowledge of all surgical instruments, their cleaning and maintenance, and will have knowledge and ability to use different sterilizes cleaning and maintenance.
