This posting seeks a Simultaneous Engineering Lead for the global base engine groups. The candidate will lead a team of four engineers, adapting to program coverage, as needed. The individual will be responsible for setting team targets, establishing best practices, PLM, hiring and have engine program coverage similar too their direct reports. The individual must have the drive and vision for how the team can best support the engine programs.

Main Simultaneous Engineering Objectives:

  • Lead activities between cross functional organizations to assure that prototype and production tooled components are delivered on time for all engine build phases
  • Meet the requirements assigned for high volume manufacturing, serviceability, quality, durability, performance and function
  • Chair simultaneous engineering meetings which will identify and document issues, assign champions, and actively drive issues to closure
  • Concentration to ensure Design for Manufacturing Principals and World Class Technology principles are the primary focus to Design Release Engineers

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure best practices are being followed for each component at the engine assembly plant
  • No touch policy violations, closed loop repairs, complexity management
  • Understand the machining and assembly processes and communize processes between all plants producing similar/same products
  • Working with EMEC and CoE's in alpha-gamma phases to ensure EPM items identified by the plants are reviewed when the new component is in the design phase
  • Organize meetings between EMEC and Product Engineering to review early product management line items identified by the plant during Alpha-Gamma phases
  • Organize meetings frequently between the product engineers, EMEC, and the plant going over topics that require complex coordinated changes during Gamma-Pilot phases
  • Troubleshoot issues discovered at the engine/vehicle plants with Product Engineering between Gamma-Pilot build phrases
  • Review and confirm protection with Error/Mistake proofing processes to prevent a mis-build when complexity is available at the station
  • Document and record torque strategy for each joint
  • Confirm soft joint detection and torque strategies are being followed
  • Document and compare all plants processes to understand manufacturing/process differences
  • Manage outside resources, as necessary, to facilitate program delivery
  • Work with platform engineering and the plant to follow changes at mid-cycle, model year changes
  • Work with product engineers on component changes that will affect the plant
  • Review warranty QEC engine claims monthly for mature programs
