Medical Billing Representative - Full-time / Part-time

Our Client in Rockville, Maryland is seeking a Medical Biller for a Contract to Hire opportunity

Job Description

They will be dealing with billing and collections (not hardcore collections, empathy and customer service are key) as well as AR, claims, and working with insurance providers. They will be working with patients (in addition to Insurance carriers) and their families so it's critical to handle correctly and with empathy/respect especially since it's Hospice care and may have just lost a love one.

The Patient Account Rep is responsible for all aspects of patient account activities including billing, collections, claims, and monthly A/R analysis and reimbursement services. Communicates with insurance providers to determine eligibility, inputs of patient billing data into EMR system
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Ability to process claims for multiple payers including, commercial insurances, Medicare, etc.
* Ensures accurate and comprehensive information is maintained in patient billing records.
* Assists clinical personnel with verifying eligibility for covered hospice services. Identifies types of coverage available to patient for billing purposes.
* Prepare monthly aging of accounts receivable to assist management with action plans and estimated cash flow.
* Manages support documentation in patients' billing files.

Qualifications

Minimum 3-5 years of experience with inpatient billing and collection in a healthcare organization strongly preferred.
* Associates degree or higher, and/ or Certified Professional Biller (CPB)
* Excellent Customer Service and communication Skills
* Proficient in Microsoft office suite
* Detail oriented
* Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team
* Working knowledge of various types of insurance plans
* Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II coding guideline.
