Lockheed Martin is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who has experience designing with CATIA V5. This position will be responsible for researching, designing modifications for post production C-130 and potentially other fixed-wing aircraft by designing installations, integration's, modified parts, assemblies, and systems based on customer specifications and integrating mechanical products and systems using 3-D modeling technique.

Job Description:

Plans, lays outs, draws, and revises part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings from basic layouts, established references, notes and discussions with engineers, and standard data. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or manual tools. Completes layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices or may develop complete major layouts of engineering drawings. Within parameters determines scaling required; inserts necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning; prepares specifications for parts, assemblies, and installations; prepares complete production detail drawings; contributes design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations. Involves designing modifications for post production C-130 and potentially other fixed-wing aircraft by designing installations, integration's, modified parts, assemblies, and systems based on customer specifications. This position will interpret customer requirements then research, develop and document mechanical designs using applicable military specifications, ANSI/ASME or related design and drafting standards.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Familiarity with ANSI/ASMEY14.100 or similar design and drafting standards
  • Experience with Catia V5 3D parametric modeling and drafting
  • Perform detailed drawing checks and be responsible for completion of production ready drawings
  • Ability to work under little or no direct supervision
  • Demonstrated previous success working in a team based environment to meet objectives

Desired Skills:

Any familiarity with structure of C130 aircraft, specifically C130J. Experience with Teamcenter PLM software. Experience integrating electromechanical systems and airframe structure on H-60 Army Aviation platforms; substantiating structural installations through FEA and hand-calculation methods; experience supporting the Special Operations military community.

Working Knowledge of Solidworks, AutoCad, TeamCenter Engineering, Can read and interpret both Mechanical and Electrical based drawings Experience with Ground based vehicles, DoD contracts, aviation. Capable of learning new systems quickly.
