SUMMARY: The Director, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) will support the needs of HEOR-US in planning and managing health economics outcomes research activities for Lundbeck US, based on the evidence requirements of U.S. customers. This includes all phases of outcomes research including design and implementation of retrospective database studies, assessment of patient reported outcomes, epidemiological studies and support/input to economic evaluation (incl. modelling). The Director, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) will also provide insights and ensure alignment with the global HEOR and RWE projects in the management of these especially when US activities are of relevance for other countries.  The Director will work closely with the US Product Team, e.g. Medical Affairs, Medical Science Liaisons, Managed Care and Clinical Research and when relevant the Health Economic and Epidemiology (HEE), Global Analytic (GA) and Global Market Access Team to ensure optimal and efficient collaboration on HEOR studies and deliverables for the US. This position reports to the Senior Director, HEOR-US within R&D in Deerfield, Illinois. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsibilities include and are not limited to: * Under the supervision of VP/Senior Director US HEOR works closely with the US Product Team, e.g. Medical Affairs, US Managed Care and when relevant the Health Economic and Epidemiology (HEE), Global Analytic (GA) and Global Market Access Team to develop HEOR plans for Lundbeck marketed and pipeline drugs based on the regulatory, marketing and reimbursement needs of the US Market. * Implements research initiatives to document the burden or unmet needs, real world evidence (prospective and database studies) patient reported outcomes (PRO) components, and health economic aspects of disease to demonstrate the value of Lundbeck drug therapies. * Develops HEOR and epidemiology evidence core deliverables (e.g.  burden of illness, treatment patterns analyses, Real World studies, health economic evaluations, budget impact models and unmet needs reports, etc.) supporting US pricing and reimbursement needs. * Works with US Medical Affairs (including field-based medical personnel) and external experts or vendors to write, coordinate, organize and validate as required, study design, protocols, measurement questionnaires, case report forms, data analysis plans, modeling reports and final research reports/publications. * Works with Global functions such as HEE, GA, GPMA on global projects, especially on US activities of relevance to other affiliates * Provides HEOR and epidemiology expertise in support of Medical Science Liaisons and/or HEOR Liaisons * Works closely with US commercial legal, regulatory affairs and global medical information organizations (via the US Medical Affairs and US Product teams) to effectively develop research and resources that are consistent with Corporate and US regulatory and compliance requirements (whichever strictest) to allow dissemination of messages throughout Lundbeck and to external customers * Responsible for developing, maintaining and understanding scientific and methodological developments within his/her areas of research expertise. * May involve business-related travel activity to ensure broad internal/external input into the HEOR planning process and to ensure the timely completion of projects. * Builds relationships with US health economic, methodological, epidemiology and outcomes research experts. * Support compliant presentation of compounds and products research and associated disease state information to US payers as well as at regional and national scientific, outcomes research and public policy forums and congresses. * Publishes relevant outcomes research articles in scientific journals. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS: * Combination of academic training and practical experience in epidemiology and outcomes research and/or health economics is required.  This may consist of:  + Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline such as, but not limited to, health services research, health outcomes research, epidemiology, pharmacy administration, public health, economics, statistics or decision sciences or Clinical degree (e.g., in medicine, pharmacy, nursing), plus at least three (3) years practical experience + Or Master's Degree in a related discipline (as noted above), plus at least five (5) years practical experience + Practical experience (number of years as noted above) in performing epidemiology and outcomes research, in any setting, including life sciences organization, research organization, academic institution or governmental agency * Specific  experience/knowledge about market access requirements * Firm understanding and expertise in the field of Outcomes Research Health Economics, and epidemiology. * Well-versed in highly technical and scientific languages in order to communicate effectively with health care professionals, researchers, and other external and internal stakeholders. * Good communication skills, both oral and written, and able to gain the trust and respect of peers, subordinates, and superiors. * Proven track record of teamwork, timely decision making, and results orientation in meeting objectives. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: * Doctoral degree such as PharmD, PhD, MD, MSc * Experience in the pharmaceutical industry * Experience in the CNS therapeutic area TRAVEL: * Willingness/Ability to travel up to 30% domestically.
