Sears Holdings Corporation is seeking an experienced attorney to join our Law Department as Assistant General Counsel, with responsibility for providing legal oversight, support, and advice with respect to a wide range of Sears Holdings Corporation businesses. Successful candidates will be comfortable supporting both transactional and regulatory matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements.
  • Provide practical legal advice that furthers business objectives.
  • Identify risks inherent in contract terms and business and develop solutions to complex problems that mitigate risk.
  • Provide legal oversight and guidance in order to ensure the Company's compliance with U.S. Customs and trade, transportation, environmental, product safety, and other laws, rules and regulations.
  • Provide accurate, cost-effective and timely legal support to business units.
  • Manage legal risks and assist in managing business risks and resolving pre-litigation disputes.
  • Apprise business and legal partners of pertinent legislative and regulatory developments.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of seven years' experience in relevant areas of the law in a law firm and/or law department
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one state in good standing, and able to gain admission to the Illinois Bar
  • Demonstrated strong professional and academic achievement
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. trade and customs regulations, transportation, environmental and/or product safety regulations a plus.
