Patient Care Type: The Pain Rehabilitation Center (PRC) is an hospital based outpatient program offering treatment for both Pediatric (age 13-22) and Adult (18-99) patients experiencing chronic pain, fatigue or other debilitating chronic symptoms. The programs have separate multidisciplinary team members, but do some administrative work together. Staff do cross orient and cover both programs. PRC programs offered are 17 days in length. Patients participate in PT, OT, and group sessions Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. for pediatrics, 8 a.m. until 4:15 for adults.

Census: 1 team of Pediatrics 14-16 Adult 2 teams, total of 26-28

Nursing Roles: The RN in Pediatric PRC is responsible for conducting admission RN and psychosocial assessments, medication reconciliation, and facilitating individual and group educational sessions with the patients and their parents/families. Additional duties may include withdrawal assessments, substance use disorder risk assessment, and completion of the discharge summary. The RN also assists in facilitating aftercare planning and conference calls with schools and local counselors. RNs function autonomously within the interdisciplinary team and under direction of the medical director/nurse manager. Experience working with pediatrics or with parenting/family dynamics would be helpful.

For new grad nurses: All newly graduated Registered Nurses with less than 12 months of practice experience, hired into a scheduled FTE Registered Nurse position on the Rochester campus of Mayo Clinic are automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program. A separate application or enrollment process is not required. All nurses new to Mayo Clinic, regardless of experience, will receive an extensive orientation program.

The Nurse Residency Program at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, is a yearlong training program that provides you an opportunity as a newly licensed nurse to develop your leadership skills and receive support during your transition from student nurse to competent professional nurse. The Nurse Residency Program will run concurrently with traditional unit orientation as designed for the unit new grad nurses are hired into.

Highlights of the program include:

* Group and/or individual evidence-based practice projects

Responsibilities: The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and adequacy of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.

Qualifications: Student or Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN- formerly NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN or CCNE, at least one year of RN experience (within the last 5 years) in an applicable care setting is required. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is required or, effective October 1st, 2017 one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.

All associate degree or diploma registered nurses hired into the Department of Nursing with a RN start date after September 1, 2010, must provide documented evidence of program completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within 5 years from the last day of the month of their RN start date.

Additional Qualifications: One year RN experience within the last five years preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.

License or Certification: Must obtain prior to start date:

Current RN license by applicable state requirements.

Arizona and Florida: Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.

Midwest: Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS -- certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.

* American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers or BLS Provider)

* Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers or BLS for Healthcare Providers)

* Military Training Network

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $28.22 per hour.

Hours/Pay Period: 48 hours per 2 week pay period

Schedule Details: Monday -- Friday; Days, 8am-5pm with some variability, 8-hour shifts -- NOT NEGOTIABLE

Weekend Schedule: No weekends
