Responsibilities: The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to hire additional Supplemental Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join the Albert Lea, MN and/or Austin, MN Emergency Medicine departments. These positions provide the opportunity to join and further develop high quality health care delivery teams with commitment to practice, education and research. The EDs have an annual volume of 13,500 visits/year in Albert Lea & 16,000 visits/year in Austin with adjacent urgent cares serving 30,000 annually.
NP PAs provide practice coverage 12 hour per day alongside an EM physician colleague. The NP PA serves as an independent provider, collaborates with the physician and works with a variety of other healthcare professionals. The NP PA will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents, and patient education. The NP PA will also perform a variety of procedures including laceration repair, I&D, and lumbar puncture, etc. Our practice is unique in that we start with an onboarding process that assesses your skillset in order to provide the proper training that's tailored specifically to you. Initial orientation will be in Mankato as this is the main training/orientation site for Mayo Clinic's EM NPs PAs within the region. Mayo Clinic values the skills and expertise of the NP/PA in Emergency Medicine and our goal is for you able to practice safely and confidently as a solely provider in one of our critical access hospitals. We look forward to adding a physician assistant or nurse practitioner to our Emergency Department team practice.

Qualifications: Nurse Practitioner: Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP
OR
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
BLS and ACLS certification required and an unrestricted prescriptive authority in Minnesota, (Minnesota Board of Medical Examiners and DEA). (CALS and PALS) or ATLS certifications are preferred by the time of starting the position. Emergency Medicine Fellowship, or 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience is preferred by not required.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
